Front strut Torque setting

Post by swappy »

Just purchased a strut brace, I know I should have sorted the rest of the suspension first but couldn't resist something shiny  Anyway the question is whats the torque setting for the three bolts on the strut tower, and they don't seem very long not long enough to accomodate a strut brace can they be replaced for longer bolts or are they welded to the strut?
Any input appreciated strut brace should be here by thursday
Fitted the seat mod today on both seats loads more comfy for me at 6'2" :D

In the absence of official torque setting figures.

As tight as you can get them using one hand with a six inch ring spanner. Or if the spanner is longer (or if using a socket wrench) with your hand six inches from the nut.

Had a scout through the TIS manual and came across the following (Located under "front axle" sections).
The first is a snippet from the whole document on how to replace the front strut/shock absorbers:-

and here is document 31 31 1AZ in its entirety ...
The descriptions on the left make no sense to me, but make of them what you will

Designed or not designed, that is the question.

They are M8 so use 25Nm.
Z3M with a few mods...and a little bit more power

I tried the strut top nuts on mine, and (although it depends of course on your arm strength) using a six inch spanner l can get them to about 27Nm according to my torque wrench!
