INPA Graphing software found & some CarSoft Questions

Post by sirius-c »

In an effort to diagnose my RICH condition and near MOT failure and to pin point the exact problem rather than start needlessly throwing parts in,
I came across a bit of software that works with my 1997 2.8 (M52B28) with a "MS 410.DS3".

This program needs a working copy of INPA installed as it uses some of its files.
The absolute gem's of this software are its "faster than INPA" response times, plus the all important live graphing.....I needed a graph to check if i had a lazy o2 sensor, Oh and last but not least, its FREE :thumb:

I only have the 20 pin socket under the bonnet and I use a USB cable purchased from bmcables.com and this works a treat with INPA on Win7 and with this software I stumbled upon.
I dont have an OBD2 socket so live graphing software was non-existent, so I thought.

anyhow's,
I'm sure others with no OBD2 will find it useful.
here's the link to the software called "Test-O"

I do have some questions however:-
can anyone who uses Carsoft please tell me if it shows live data and live graphing?
Im looking at buying this for the arsenal if it does.

at present INPA will not connect to the instrument cluster without throwing script errors and crashing, do you think the carsoft interface (I think its referred to as an ADS interface) via a serial port will allow me to connect to other control modules (EG: Instrument Cluster) or is it simply that they don't exist on my Z3?

for the life in me I cannot get DIS working, its driving me nuts!
would the carsoft serial interface be a better option for persuing this further?

PS:
I dont have a lazy O2 sensor, the graphing software revealed that....great, that saved me £80! :thumb:
fuel trims are in the minus regions indicating a RICH condition so it now looks like a fuel pressure test is next on the cards with a view to replacing the fuel pressure regulator or inspecting the injectors and their O-rings.

For the nerds among you I highly recommend this guys videos on youtube, especially if your knowledge on fuel injection and closed loop systems etc is non-existent or a little rusty.

Designed or not designed, that is the question.
