Hartge - 1.9 conversion

Post by Del »

Stumbled across this old thread. Apart from Alpina I am a bit ignorant about these official BMW conversions and I have never seen another humble 1.9 altered in this way. The OP talks about Birds doing the alterations - who is/are Birds?

www.birdsauto.com Kevin Bird has a very good rep, chatted to him at length about a 2.8 stroker and actually convinced me I would be wasting my money..

Funnily enough the same owner has just in the last couple of days posted on .org about this car. Still going strong.

For road use a pair of Kent 312R cams and a good cylinder head job will put out about 175/180 bhp, with surprising economy too. We had a 1.8 Corrado with such an engine, and it was a real flier.
