hi all another newbie
I've just bought a z3 3.0i when buying stuff is it known as as an e36 for parts

I think it's classed as E36/7. If you go to http://www.realoem.com & put your VIN number in, you will get every part of your car listed along with part numbers. Hope this helps.

Hi K9Paul,

Dependes on what your buying, as lebigmec states the code is a E36/7 but the car is a parts bin from the models. Most stuff is advertised as Z3 specific but the link provided above give invaluable information regarding part number etc.

Hi and welcome, you should find it a great car. I have had my 3.0 for 7 years and 75,000 miles and it still makes driving a pleasure. :)
