Remove bar under dash

Does anyone know how to remove the bar that goes across the cb under the dash. I need to get to the big box behind I with the a/c evaporator in and that pesky bar won't budge. I looks like an easy undo on each side but no go, what's the trick.

Here you go.... NB. Read the top of page one...you need to do some draining and if you have an aircon, some gas discharging...

As per the instructions, I'm afraid that job of removing the heater box will require removal of the whole dash. Worth blasting and painting the bar once it's out though as it's installed in its raw state.
