2002 2.2 Oil Filter?

Post by Lancsbob »

Hi All

Am trying to get an oil filter for my 2002 2.2 which includes the "O" rings whenever i find
one on Ebay it says not suitable for 2.2, others only have the large "O" ring & a copper
seal which says its suitable. Being the first time iv'e changed oil not sure which is right.
Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Cheers Bob

Hi Bob

Eurocarparts list 3 and a branch in Wigan, I usually end getting the Mann filters as we used to use them at work not cars though

http://www.eurocarparts.com/oil-filter

Just checked as it is the same as my 3.0, same M54 engine different bore/stroke. The come with O ring and copper washer.

Thanks for that.

RealOEM shows one large o ring & 2 small o rings NOT 1 large & a copper washer.
I can't see any mention of a copper washer. Whats it used for?

Which do i get?

The copper washer is for the sump drain plug. To get the two small washers you need to find the numbers on realoem and order them from a main dealer.

My 1.9 filters came with copper sump washer large rubber seal and the two small rubber o rings for the filter housing, have a Hengst Filter E104HD43 and a UFI 2500800 sitting on the garage shelf both with full sets of seals and o rings, the Hengst one came from Europarts.

Looking on Real OEM parts and cross referencing the small o rings it looks like they were fitted to the Z3 range across the model range to June 2002 so if you cant get the o rings using your 2.2 details get a 1.9 filter which includes the o rings. I think you will find the 1.9 filter itself is the same as the 2.2 filter up to June 2002 as well. If you just want to use the o rings then its not a lot of money to get a 1.9 filter and just use what you need from the package. If you do get a 1.9 filter be sure to compare the size against your 2.2 filter just in case there is a size difference before using the 1.9.

Thanks for that.
Iv'e managed to get the 2 "O" rings from Latvia on ebay. Couldn't find anywhere else that has them apart from main dealer.
Why do they only supply 1.9 filters with the 2 o rings & not any others?

My Fram filter came with all 'O' rings plus the sump plug copper washer :) Guess it depends on the manufacturer/supplier.

Why did you not buy them from the main dealer? I got mine from there and they only cost a few pounds.

Have they put the price up? Land Rover have done that on many Defender parts in the last 12 months. For example a TD5 rev counter old price £85+VAT new price £260+VAT
