Fitting aftermarket radio.

Post by Lancsbob »

As i have removed the 6 cd changer which includes the amp to
get extra space in boot so as to render the original radio
not working how would i connect up an aftermarket radio
as all the connections are in the boot.
Am keeping all the original radio/fittings for when i sell car.

Bob,

The good news is the wiring is all there together. You need to bridge the input and the output so the the speaker output from the new radio goes direct to the speakers. Depending on the setup you may also have to add in some kind of crossover for the mids and sweaters in the doors.

Do you know what system you have. Is it the Hi-fi upgrade or Harman Kardon? The wiring is different. Pictures of the connectors would help.

Hi
I havn't actually bought anything just wondering how difficult
it was to fit a replacement radio after removing original.
As far as i know its just a multipin plug connecting radio
but that just routes to the boot which is now disconnected.
If its too technical i can live without it.

Bob,

Fitting the new radio is easy. You just need an adapter.

The more complicated part is bridging the amp connector. The amp connector is what I was looking for a picture of.

It's not the same if you have the upgraded system with an amp in the boot. The base system just has a little amp on the back of the left footwell speaker.
