London mechanics / garages

Post by usernothername »

Anyone recommend a trustworthy place for various BMW / Z3 work in or around London - preferably Central / East?

I had a few good chats with a guy from this place: http://bnwautospecialists.com/ over the phone. Seems to know his stuff and be pretty friendly, willing to discuss various options/approaches to work and happy for me to supply parts if I can get them cheaper. Labour prices seem a little higher than others I spoke to but sounded like he know his stuff better.

Difficult to tell without taking the plunge and handing over the keys (and a chunk of cash), putting a lot of trust in a total stranger!

What do you need done? Maybe we could help you to DIY some or all of it?

Thanks, all. I had the chap I mentioned before do it in the end - main work was replacing the front shocks. I'm pretty OK with the DIY but don't have spring compressors or a ramp / axle stands so I think would've been a bit too tricky. Labour on these was £50 per side which I think is pretty reasonable. Also on of the hub bolts sheared off so thank god I didn't have to deal with that myself. He took the hub off and drilled it out for no extra cost.
