Tilt sensor

Post by dazthephot »

Just a quick bump. One of the wires has broken off the tilt sensor wiring block

Can you buy replacements? Or get new female pin connectors to solder on?

Doubt you will get a pin it will only come as a unit from BMW
One on ebay at the moment http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Z3-E36-Al ... SwstxVUKxX
or
Ask spurs fan on here if he has one from his stock of parts.

Actually, all the connectors and pins are available from BMW - you just have to search out the part numbers on Realoem, in the 'Vehicle Electrical System' section, which can be 'challenging'!

Is it the pin in the cable connection plug that needs replacing as opposed to the socket pin in the tilt sensor?

Have a look here for repair kits for supplementary wiring bits

It's the wire that goes into the black block connector that's broken and corroded so i thought i could get a replacement female micro pin and dig out the corroded one in the block, then solder the new female pin on to the wire and insert it back into the block.

I suspect some of the other wires are corroded too so i may as well get another 5 or 6 and replace them all.

Or leave the tilt sensor disconnected as a bodge but then i don't like to do that.

I think it's this one. I'll have to call BMW and see what's included in the repair kit..
