The Phoenix has been stolen
My car, fairly well known on this forum, was stolen last night. It was taken from my garage. The thieves evidently broke into my house (though there was no forced entry) for the keys. They also nabbed my wallet and phone. If anyone knows me personally, don't try to call me on the mobile cos it has gone.
If anyone happens to spot my car - there are probably less than 10 in Phoenix Yellow in this country - please let me know via this forum, or better still phone the police. The reg starts GY51.
Needless to say, DO NOT buy a Phoenix Yellow Z3M Roadster at this time. Thanks everyone.
Steve

Sorry to hear that Steve.
I'm sure everyone here will keep their eyes open it, shouldn't be difficult to spot.
Gazza.

Sorry to hear that mate - Its a nightmare when something like this happens - I had a car broken into once before and it used to give me nightmares for ages and made me paranoid about checking it all the time! There was also the sense of being violated against which can take time to get over!
There has been an increase in car thefts such as this as manufacturers have made it more difficult to steal and drive a car away with out keys, so theives are now breaking in and stealing the keys. Were u home at the time? if so, its probably a good thing u weren't disturbed as they could have been dangerous and obviously nothing is worth risking yours or your family's life for!
Was anything else taken other than car, wallet and phone? if not, its clear that it wasn't a random attack as they would have tried to take other items too (though they could have been put off that if u were home at the risk of waking u up) or it may have been a planned theft. You say there is no evidence of breaking in? were where your house and car keys? I have heard of theives using a hook to get your keys through your letter box as most people tend to either put them by the table near the door or hang them on a hook, so theives don't need to break in, they just hook them off and off they go!
Main thing is you and your family did not get involved and are ok and I hope u get the Zed back in one piece with no damage or anything!

Sick sick sick for you Steve.
That's heartbreaking news.
It's such a rare and well known beast that it's GOT to come out of hiding sooner or later.
My guess is that the theiving scum have no idea of how unique and recognisable that car is.
I really hope she comes home very soon and the sh!tbags responsible get what they deserve.
Keep us posted with news.

Really sorry to hear that Steve. Glad you didn't come into contact with them though, otherwise it could have been a different story. With a car as unusual as yours, it could have been stolen to order, so there is a chance you may get it back unscathed. R.

As Alfie says, I bet they've no idea how rare the car is so mabye there's more hope you'll get it back. OK of course provided it's not been thrashed to death
Either way you have my full sympathies Steve.

I've posted a link to this thread on the z3mcoupe.com forum so that the members on there can also keep their eyes open for something Phoenix Yellow.
I sincerely hope that you get the car back undamaged. Hopefully, the thieves will attempt to use your credit cards which can then act as a trace for the Police

That's got to be the worst way to start the new year without actually having an accident. I wish you the very best of luck in getting the outcome you want and deserve from this horrible experience. There are a lot of Sh1theads out there I'm afraid.
Best regards,

Car stolen
Steve I am sorry to hear about your car, I had the same experience so I know how you must feel. However with the unusual colour it will not be easy to hide it, and hopefully you will get it back. We were in the house when they broke in and found a plastic key, fortunately we did not hear them.

Hello everyone,
Many thanks for your messages of support - it is much appreciated.
As some of you have suggested, the car may have been deliberately targeted. The police have suggested the thieves may have entered my house by sticking a special pole (or indeed their arm) through a cat-flap, somehow hooking the keys and letting themselves in. No damage whatsoever, they just nabbed my bag - with my wallet and phone in - and then grabbed the car keys. Must have been in and out within a minute or two.
In a sense - if the car was deliberately targeted - it is fortunate that I did not have my keys and wallet with me in my bedroom as they might well have come up and coshed me for them. A sobering thought. I am grateful for small mercies like that at a time like this.
Thanks once again to you all. I'm not too optimistic that I'll get the car back, but I'll certainly post any developments.

Just spotted this on the bay of fleas: bmw roadster z3 m coupe
Don't quite know what to make of it - either it was stolen by a viewer, or the auction is a dummy put up after the car was stolen. It's one way of trying to get people to help I suppose.
Anyway, ///M owners, be on guard.

Steve, I'm gutted for you....
Sadly an increasing way that the robbing gits get our cars.
Electronic security has almost finished the easy break in and they are now taking keys from the houses, thus negating the immobiliser..
Thats and whilst your sat in traffic
I thought it was widely know to never leave keys in view or accessible via the fishing Rod technique, but in hinds sight I'm sure we have all done it...
Could be worth ringing Tracker incase it had one fitted and could be re-activated...
My fingers are crossed for you and the safe return of the Phoenix

Really sorry to read this and I do hope you get the car back and those responsible for taking it are caught/dealt with appropriately.
A colleague of mine, was close to suffering a similar experience when he disturbed an intruder at his house in Rugby. The intruder fled empty handed but the police advised that he had probably been targetted for his Skyline GTR.
Apparently it is becoming a more common method of car theft, and they are usually stolen to order.
He was also told that it is becoming more common for thieves to follow a car to its home and for the owner to be robbed whilst parking on their own drive.
As previously stated, in this case they were probably ignorant to your cars rarity and hopefully it will be more easily recovered as a result.

Phoenix that car is gorgeous, I hope you get it back undamaged. It wont be an easy car to hide with so few about. It's a sickening feeling to know someone has been through your belongings or just in your space, but as you said it could have been worse. Keep your chin up and again, I hope you get her back.

With cars being more secure the fishing rod through the letter bex is now a common way to get car keys if they are left on view , but with cars being more secure car jacking ia also becoming a more common thing , as you said it could have been worse .
I am sure you had the sick feeling in your stomach when you realised what had happened .
A post on any Irish or Spanish zed forums might be an idea though the people who get stolen cars to order probably(hopefully) don't use forums.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune
Are you hoping for it back? Maybe a silly question to most and before you all have a go let me explain my reasoning. If my ///M Coupe was stolen, even stolen to order i would be hoping never to see it again. Very much doubt the bastards would respect or even think about letting the oil temp rise before taking the revs up above 3K It may look untouched but their treatment of the car could cause problems later on.
Personally i would be hoping for the c**ts to wrap it around a tree and kill themselves. (obviously injuring no innocent parties).
Anyway, whatever you YOU'RE hoping for, i hope your wishes are realised.
Sorry again
David

Some good points there, and I understand what you're saying ///M Breadvan. Its return could be a blessing in disguise, although I'd be delighted all the same.
What I fear has probably happened is that the car has been specifically targeted and has simply been stripped for spares and no longer 'exists' as such. Time will tell I guess.
Cheers everyone,
Steve

So sorry to hear about this and what a sad end it would be to just be ringed into another Estoril Blue M roadster (no disrespect) I think it's more likely it's gone abroad.Phoenix Nights wrote:What I fear has probably happened is that the car has been specifically targeted and has simply been stripped for spares and no longer 'exists' as such.
Due to us having a custom made front door we have no letterbox in it (got one on the wall outside) and the keys for the zed are hidden in the house (from the wife more than anything!).
All the best

Really sorry to hear that news
Some people really are scum! Unfortunately though, they don't care what effect they have on their victims. There is just too much money to be made. The people who buy the "really cheap spares from some guy down the pub" are the ones who create the market in the first place. If no-one did that then no-one would steal the cars. Unfortunately they would just move on to some other "product".
Having read this thread yesterday I now keep all my spare keys hidden in the house. Have never kept them on view anyway but now I'm really paranoid.

Yes if they stole the car to fund a drug habit & they get caught & they aren't allowed drugs in prison, they will get compension for having their human rights invaded, as happened in a bunch of cases recentlyJontyP wrote:What a world we live in
