235 front tyres ?
235 front tyres ?
Any info out about fitting 235 tyres to zm standard front wheels?
had a peak and the 225's seem close to the strut legs so
im thinking a 5 or an 8 mm spacer but dont know which, ild like the 8mm for the extra track but by my calculations will put the tyre/wheel out 13 mm from normal. will this be oky ??
Are the wheel bolts black or silver ? im away and have to order longer ones
many kind thank yous
Oh just fitted new standard springs and bilstien struts so height in standard

Never saw your original post, but yes 235/45s look too "tall" although they will fit (and I think some people run them on here) but they don't look right to me. I'm currently running 235/40/17 and 245/40/17 rear and they look nice. Slightly lower profile but not miles out and the front wheels seem to look better for it too!jj wrote:OH well
the 235's didnt work out as the 45 profile is worked out on width of the tyre making them look more like 50 profile with the incresed width.
Any one for a set of new 235/45/17" avon zz3,s cheap ?
Cheers c_w
i did talk with the tyre man about 235/40's after he informed me the 235/45 id ordered on the net would be higher profile than i thought.
He said they would be lower than the original 45's, i chickened out not wanting to bugger up again and just got standards.
Be good to see a side on pic of yours if youve got one hanging about.

Yea, as much as the 235/45s go slightly taller, the 235/40s go slightly smaller but I reckon it looks better for it and it's not widely different (just that with the factory 225/45s the tyrs already look a little tall IMO, so any taller starts to look rubbish). I'll see if I can get a picture of the car side on to compare with the standard rear tyre.jj wrote:Cheers c_w

I once had the 235/45's I chose them as on paper they were a closer match, however they did look chunky. No problems with rubbing etc.
However, I now have 235/40's and they do look MUCH better. Again, no problems with rubbing and you'd never notice any difference on the speedo.
On the back I have 255/40's and these look good too.
FWIW, does the speedo take it's reading from the front or the backs? I would guess it's from the back as that's the drive.

Go here - http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html - More info than you ever wanted to know and also a good calculator to see what different widths and profiles do to the rolling radius.

I have BBS 19" rims in CH pattern on mine. 8.5J front with 245/35/19 and spacers (can't remember the spacer size, not much though) and at the rear 10J with 285/30/19 with no spacers required. Looks good and handles well with the KW variant 3 suspension.
Now with both the 411 bhp Supercharged Z3MR and a WRX STi Wagon getting a 3.4 litre transplant and an XKR with mods planned.
Fast is good, faster is better. Wheeeeee !!!
