M Roadster to 328i Sport

Post by Schnitzer »

Since my accident in the M Roadster ive been thinking hard about what car to go for. In the end i decided to purchase a lovely 1997 bmw 328i sport. Have to say so far im very impressed with it. Lovely and smooth

Dont worry thou....Another M Roadster will be purchased. Probably for the summer. Have to wait and see how things go.

The 328i Sport is a very underated car, great motors.

I agree. I have given it a proper clean today and took it out for a little drive. Almost seems better than an M3 as the power seems just perfect for the body.

I think they're overated for the "Sports" bit but underrated as the swift, refined crusier they are. My brother had a very tidy R-plate one a few years back and it was very quiet and smooth to drive.

Yeah, the 328i Sport had a creamy smooth engine and was a beautifully balanced car. I remember going out for a spin in a new one many years ago. It was a gorgeous motor. My only criticism, and it's small, is that the 328i never had the same exhaust note as the earlier 325i (e30 and e36) and I missed that.

The one thing I love about the E36 is all the options that were available from the factory... in car phones, full 18-button OBC's, glove box torch, armrests, individual schemes, heated/electric seats, electric rear windows (even on coupes) etc... my advice is don't rush out and buy one... every once and a while one will pop up with an incredible spec and interior/paint combo.

I miss my old '28 very much, sadly it went to a bad home and has since been thrashed/ruined/damaged... :(

..please tell me you are joking. A bonnet bra is just about the most ridiculous looking thing ever invented by man.

One option I would like is what audi called "auxiliary heating", this is a function that uses an auxiliary battery and heater radiator matrix to preheat your car in the morning when programmed.

Was that available on the E36 and what was the option called?

Webasto Preheater

Post by Ferdinand »

Get a proper Webasto Preheater - heats up the coolant water so that you don't crank an engine with cold water as well - also heats up the cabin - have it in all my cars - once you've tried it - you'll NEVER have another cars without this system...

uses ordinary petrol provided from the fuel system and is normally with a timer - I have remotes for my cars though....

thanks for the nice comments......Its is a really nice car. Very different engine from my ZM Roadster. Althou i actually like the 2.8 engine. Very smooth with a good power delivery once your over 3k rpm. Its got a supersprint exhaust and a Dave F induction kit fitted so it sounds lovely as well.
