I went to have a look at this today as it is not far from me:

Very good original condition and very quiet VANOS. Serviced every few thousand miles but by independent since 2001, the chap owns a BMW specialist and motorsport company (Colin Blower Motorsports). It was his wife's car so I believe he would have ensured it was kept safe and maintained. Can Insp 2 be carried out properly by an indy? Is the valve clearance check easy to do for a competent mechanic?
All wheels had serious kerbing and desperate for a refurb.
Little 'clock' lamp on so brake fluid due a change.
What is the consensus on the value given the three points above? I think 12k seems a little high given the S54 on PH for 12850.
It would be a T reg if it did not have the private plate fitted.
Low Mileage M Roadster on AT - opinions on value?
I think it's £3K to dear, even with the low mileage

Thanks Gary.
I was thinking high nines before I went to see it (assuming wheels would be OK and more BMW history than the first couple services)
Problem is when someone who has had a car for seven years and done very few miles (about 15000 since 2001) might not appreciate the true value.
Mini's car looks nice though (on another thread in this section).
Finally, he didnt seem to appreciate the premium S54s carry as I mentioned in passing the Phoenix one on PH at 12850 with the S54 and he looked a bit blank at that point.
Oh and by the way Gary, he had a beautiful T Bird (I guess 50s or 60s) sat right next to it in the tiled garage. It was mint. Not my cuppa but I thought you might appreciate it!

A bit over priced. £10k tops for a great condition Estoril blue example S50 in the current climate. Imola Red would obviously command more.
BMW Z3, the only way to build a true roadster

Nuff said....texasjohn wrote:It was his wife's car....All wheels had serious kerbing.....
Inspection II by an indy (so long as it's the RIGHT indy) is not a problem.
Quite often, an indy will do a better job than a main dealer.
In fact, you might even consider the owner to be a bit of a mug if they paid main dealer prices for a service on such an old car!
So long as the book is stamped at the correct intervals by a competent BMW specialist, you don't need to be too precious about the official BMW stamps.
However, if the car was less than 3 years old, then the blue+white roundel would be more important to see in the service book.
As for the value, I'm all for maintaining the prices of our cars, so that one is priced just about right, ok?
A.

For what its worth I think its a classic case of someone not appreciating the current value of cars.
Having said that I'm a great believer in something being worth both what the seller is willing to accept and the seller is prepared to pay. Whether the seller realises or not this car is not "priced to sell" ie the price will put off the "enthusiast" / anyone thats done their homework
To me any S50 Z3m roadster should be between £7.5k to £9.5k depending on condition, mileage, warranty, etc......
There will always be exceptions (cat D's <£7k, concours >£10k) but I think this should be towards the £9.5k mark especially without some form of warranty.
Will be interesting to see what the next S54 goes for (not advertised at!), I've only seen a couple recently (high mileage advertised at <£10k, and nice example advertised <£13k).

The car looks really nice in the large garage with chequered floor and trophy's in the background. It will not be like that when you come to sell it.
Also Colin Blower motorsport will not count for much if you are not Colin Blower.
It has been for sale for a long time, I agreed to go see it before I bought mine. In fact I was preparing to set off with directions and a what to look for list. Just waiting for my lift before I set off.
One last quick look on all the sellers sites before the off and found mine on ebay. Called the seller and knew it was a must view. The rest is history.
As for the S54 you could look at my previous posts.
I paid £ 8,250 by the way with fully stamped 25k. miles
Keep looking and good luck
