Has anyone tried the new Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2

Post by NorwegianBlue »

I'm in the process of trying to get new rear tyres. It's proving a real pain as I run 255's on the back and all the distributors have run out of Toyo Proxy T1-R's. Up to now I've had Eagle F1 GSD3's but as these can't be obtained now I thought I'd try the Proxies.

So, now looking at going back to 245's to give more tyre choice and found there's this new version of the Asymmetric's.

Has anyone dipped their toe into this one yet?

Siwilson has them, good reports and better in the wet than the GSD3

Mine are Asymmetric. but not the Asymmetric 2. The Original version are excellent, but do need a while to get round again after a week or two parked up. I can only imagine the Asymmetric 2 would be better.

I prefer the originals, a really good tyre that handled nicely on track, with a markedly different outer edge tread pattern. For some reason the assy2 appears to be more a general tyre IMO.

Cheers c_w
I was wondering about them, especially when I searched for them on here and nothing really came up. Why do they have to mess around changing what doesn't need changing? So annoying!

Resurrected from about the last time you were on this forum, right?
:D

Don't muck about... go get a set of Vredestein Sessantas.

I always trusted to GSD3s but fancied a change so gave the Sessantas a go.
They just blow the pants off the Eagles, wet or dry. And they're cheaper!
RED simply hasn't put a foot wrong since they went on.
Only down point is they are quite noisy, but you soon get used to that!

Best road tyre by a wide margine is the Michelin Pilot Super Sport - a road tyre that people are now using on track. They aren't silly money either. I'd bo going with these if I was on the lookout for a high performance road tyre.

Funny enough I've seen these mentioned quite a few times in the reviews but didn't know much about them..... <sigh> You do realise that's another day of pricing up and googling for me? :head: Thanks mate! xx

Do the Uniroyal rainsport 3 tyres have a bead/rim edge protector?

...from the comments on this post, I would say people are quite fussy about the rubbers they use...

I decided to go for the Eagles from my local tyre fitter today. I went down to order and he asked if the rears were a different size as they usually are. On checking, they are all the same size 225/40/18. Now it's only a 1999 1.9 but the 18" replacement rims (I've had for 10 years bought s/hand) look great and came with tyres on, and as we don't do much over 4000 miles per year, what I would like to know is, is there any good reason to change the size of the tyres on the rear.
