Would've been nice if they'd fitted the tonneau cover correctly

Would have been nicer if they hadn't tried to wreck it by revving it to 5k when it's cold .

Re: New autotrader advert - anyone seen it?
I believe this car is for sale on Autotrader right now - so says the dealer (the reg number is diferent though?? I had a good look round it and test drove it a few months back. Obviously I did not buy it - I bought an S54 instead....
Re: New autotrader advert - anyone seen it?
My friend has just sold the Triumph Stag used in the advert, the Reg No. is the same

They were advertising it at 7495 when I saw it about 3 months back. Draw your own conclusions
Re: New autotrader advert - anyone seen it?
I clicked on the advert somewhere - and now, every single time I click on a YouTube video - it starts off with the bloody ad first!

Re: New autotrader advert - anyone seen it?
Yes I now own it and yes it did have the wrong number in the advert, it seems a reasonable car for the money and drives well.
Needs a bit of TLc, leather and rear window (i notice it zips out so should be an easy repair) it is very much a work in progress and as I have access to other cars I can lay it up and get it ready for the spring /summer next year
Looked at lots of TVR's and MGRV8 but this was head and shoulders for condition and driving, have had Z's before 1.9 Z3 and 3.0 Z4 both good cars but this is my 1st M car.
It would appear the car had the reg number 150K from new (sad to say no longer the case) so anybody with any history of the car please let me know
regards

Thanks Brian H
I will keep you posted, the more I drive the car the more I feel it is one of the best kept secrets of the performance car world

Re: New autotrader advert - anyone seen it?
I take it that you noticed the overspray on the rear exhaust boxes? That was what turned me off. Agree it was a good price - saw they dropped south of 7k. Hope you got a good deal.
Re: New autotrader advert - anyone seen it?
Update
I have sorted out the overspray, repaired the seat (drivers side bolster) 2 new badges BMW front and rear.
There is no doubt the car has had paint but it is 14 years old, my wife has a 3 year old MB which also has had paint.
Any way the repairs are not bad and as good as you will see on most restored classics which are 4 times the price I paid for this
excellent bit of German performance engineering most of which I will leave trailing in the wake of this cars epic performance.
I am still waiting to find the catch rare, fast, fun and cheap to buy, maybe the service bills but I am sure they will be no more than other cars of this type.
thanks for your interest

Re: New autotrader advert - anyone seen it?
Glad you are pleased. I ended up with an S54 with more miles for 9k. Also delighted. Only had to spend circa £100 on rear top mounts.
Can't beat such a performance classic that can surely hold value ( if we look after them! )

Re: New autotrader advert - anyone seen it?
Someone on this forum spotted the repair from the photos online which I found stunning as I could not see it, and only barely when up close!
Re: New autotrader advert - anyone seen it?
Update
I have had it up on a ramp and all good underneath no oil leaks bushes all good and no repairs with the exception of a repair to the floor in the boot done by BMW for which I have a £3k repair bill which came with the car, brake discs a bit corroded but not bad, I guess it is where it has stood around for a while I will treat to some new ones and pads in the spring, mainly to improve its looks. It looks like the new paint was cosmetic as none of the panels appeared to have been replaced and all the shut lines are good. Is it worth fitting an engine bay brace I know it takes it away from standard but apart from looks are there any benefits to fitting one, views from anybody who has fitted one would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: New autotrader advert - anyone seen it?
fit a strut brace....makes the world of difference to the front end
Re: New autotrader advert - anyone seen it?
Thanks, So its a strut brace for Christmas and brakes in the spring, Bit worried about the MPG getting 28-30 to the gallon maybe Im not driving it right.
Could be something to do with no traction control and slippery road surfaces this time of the year.
I want to leave it laid up for winter but every time I go into the garage it says "drive me" wife thinks I am mad and she's right. I am always off to the garage to pump up the tyres last time it took over an hour and still forgot to pump up the tyres.
Most of my life I have driven many performance cars everything from Astons and Jags to lotus and rear engine German cars and mid engine Italian cars and this ZM falls into the very small class of cars which overall have live up to the promise

Re: New autotrader advert - anyone seen it?
if you can hold off with the strut until a strongstrut comes up the all the better
Re: New autotrader advert - anyone seen it?
I have the 3.0i and id be happy with 28-30 mpg its the smiles per gallon I prefer
Re: New autotrader advert - anyone seen it?
I was Joking about the MPG but it seems to be very good for this type of car
When will the new Strut brace be available and who is selling it
Thanks

Re: New autotrader advert - anyone seen it?
i meant hang on for one to come up ...well worth the wait
Re: New autotrader advert - anyone seen it?
Its me again, just had my M mot,d no problem, update; did the brakes next job is to tackle the seats moving slightly when braking and taking off . Have purchased the nylon bushes, I am also going to replace the seat belt guide which is broken while I have the seats out. Put new dunlops on the rear to match the fronts much better as the old tyres had been on the car for a few years and were very hard. I have been to a number of classic car meets and the older guys just don't seem to get it but most of the other people there seem to love it the females for it looks and the guys for it performance and engine. One last point I have had it for over a year now and all I have only seen is 2 roadsters and 1 coupe so they are very rare, the last meet I went to had 7 E types with just me and a Z1 with the blue and white roundel on the front and the Z1 won a prize.
looking forward to the summer

PS got a new knob (gear) for christmas and it really lifts the inside of the car as the old one was damaged and the leather was falling off.

Re: New autotrader advert - anyone seen it?
Hi I have had my car for 4 years now, and loved every minute, been to France three times and all over the country to show etc.
Work so far;
Rear shocks and springs (broken springs Mot Failure)
4 annual services
Front Brakes Pads and Discs
Sorted out air con
front strutbrace
2 sets of vanos seals due to oil leaks (it seem the unit is scored and will need to be replaced at some time in the future not leaking currently)
New hood (£350)
Seat bushes to stop rocking and replacement of leather section on bolster driver side
Suspension bushes and top mounts all round
I have struck up a relationship with my BMW dealer and there are very helpful discounts on parts and labour, I use local specialists to carry out servicing and CPC Auto Services have been very helpful with vanos seals.
Major work seems to be best carried out by my Franchised dealer as he is almost as cheap with the discount and all the work comes with a 2 year warranty using original parts and they really seem to like working on the car and are very entusiastic and treat you like you have brought a £100k i8, on one occasion they suppied the wrong part and when I took it back they not only supplied the right part gave me 20% off the part and fitted it for nothing saved me over £100, if the vanos need replacing I will use them as they have quoted £2k for a BMW recon unit fitted, sounds a lot but when you think my MGB GT needed sills I was quoted £4k from my local specialist it’s not bad
I must say I can never see me selling my M roadster as it gives me so much pleasure and running costs for its performance are reasonable and having added up what I have spent and even including the recon vanos( if needed) its increase in value over what I paid for it has more than covered my spend

I love that quote - I am the same, I think mine has finally found it's hometransit60 wrote: I must say I can never see me selling my M roadster as it gives me so much pleasure and running costs for its performance are reasonable and having added up what I have spent and even including the recon vanos( if needed) its increase in value over what I paid for it has more than covered my spend
