Help! S50 M Roadster - Power loss

Post by chanzs »

Hi all,

My 98 M Roadster seem to be severely underpowered, my slushbox 330 actually feels quicker, never tried a side by side but surely the M should feel significantly quicker?

I ran a ECU check and this came up:
155 MS S50 control-module fault, fault memory, master

Anyone here have experience with this? My mechanic has no idea what this means... The car idles fine and revs to redline normally without stutter but power feels no where near 320hp, feels like its under 200hp from my butt dyno.

Anyone with experience on this?

Thks!!

sorry whats 'limp' mode?

Drives totally fine, just feels more like a sub 200hp car.

Does it rev to redline whilst driving or just at standstill ?

If under load the car is slow to reach power then I would say it is in Limp mode to avoid possible damage to components.

Take the car to a BMW independent service centre or BMW main dealer.

Guess its in limp mode then. Drives totally fine less 100+ horses.

but anyone have idea on what that fault code refers? Couldnt't find anything much from search.

If in limp mode the car will still drive ok but with less power as said.

Surely with a motor like this take it to a BMW Indy or dealer as you could end up throwing money at it with a mechanic who's guessing.
