Anybody know this M, or seen it
Recently gone up for sale and its getting closer to my money. It's a bit miley for me but i think it's not too high.
Does anybody know it or seen it?

Re: Anybody know this M, or seen it
I don't recognise the car, but I wouldn't worry about that mileage on a 13 year old car so long as the book has all the right stamps.
From the pics it looks like a well cared for example and the BMW AUC warranty is very comprehensive. Adding 2 years to the standard warranty must've cost a packet!
It's definitely priced to sell quick, so if it's in your price range, you really should go take a look...
Good luck!

I would not worry about the mileage.
I'd be worried buying a low mileage example where it has been under used and parked up for periods of time - does them no good you know.

Re: Anybody know this M, or seen it
If everything is good on inspection it looks like there's a bargain to be had. The warranty and service history will make the decision for you if it's clean and tidy - I expect they will take £7000 for it too which is a good price, it worth more than that if condition is good.
Re: Anybody know this M, or seen it
I’m sensitive to high mileage purchases as well but I think 72,000 is OK. One gets “good vibes” in that it is totally original – even the first aid kit. Furthermore, it was last sold by a BMW dealer the likes of whom would not normally sell an older car unless it was absolutely immaculate – hence the warranty. The advert gives the firm impression it is in very good nick and been cared for.

Re: Anybody know this M, or seen it
Mileage is a funny people for some folk. I like to buy as low as possible but am not prepared to pay the premium for a low mileage zed because they wear miles so well !
I guess mentally anything beyond 80k is a turn off fo me but 72 is just about mentally acceptable.
Thus car seems to have the spec I want.... Cruise control and the twin skin roof...
Does anyone know someone who could do a basic inspection? Boot floor, vanos etc? Obviously paid for by me.
I'm currently in Germany so it's a bit of a treck....

Re: Anybody know this M, or seen it
Looks a genuine car. My first z3m had 80k and ran like a dream.
I would take the warranty with a piece of salt though unless there is written proof of what's covered, its transferable and conditions of transfer / to keep it warranted eg I know with some if you do anything none OEM they are invalidated etc.....
I would also check the owner out on piston heads previous posts etc....

Condition and low mileage for me I'm afraid.
I wouldn't want an 80 k car.

Re: Anybody know this M, or seen it
Sad fact is as time goes on these cars will become less common so its a case of getting whats available at the right price, you could wait forever for the right one to come along .Badman gee wrote:Condition and low mileage for me I'm afraid.

It looks a nice genuine Zed to me and a good price, I agree with mileage but if I go for an M then original bodywork condition would be top of my list rather than mileage.

47000 so not too high.
It's just a personal choice, I like as low mileage as possible as well as mint condition.
But I'm afraid there are not many about that tick both boxes

Re: Anybody know this M, or seen it
My mate who I bought the Z from is obsessed with buying low mileage minters he does very few miles and so he's able to sell them on still with low miles. The ///M does look a nice example for the money and realistically it depends on your mileage and plans, if you're doing low miles it won't jump massively when you come to sell. You don't want to spend top dollar on a garage queen if you're doing 10-15k a year. IMO it looks a good buy, not low enough to command top price but not high enough to be a dog
Re: Anybody know this M, or seen it
Mileage is a weird thing as fundamentally we all bought our cars to drive, I dread going through 50k more than I do hitting my 40th but at my current 500mile annual mileage I've got another 7yrs unlike my 40thBadman gee wrote:47000 so not too high.

Re: Anybody know this M, or seen it
If everyone has bought there cars for potential investment then getting there zed to mint condition and keeping in the garage, never to drive it for the next 10 years is the only thing to do with your car.
Otherwise why worry about your milage?
I bought my M to enjoy and drive.. I don't use it every day of course but obsession with keeping your milage low will only lead to one out come.. You'll never drive it..
Then when you do sell it on the next owner will reap the benifits of all your hard work and have the biggest smile on his/her face when there drive it away off your drive...

Totally agree, my S54 has just turned 80 and was 45 when I bought it in 2006

Re: Anybody know this M, or seen it
All these cars are too old to be worried about mileage. Mechanical condition is everything. Cosmetics can be easily sorted.
Things you won't know unless you are lucky enough to find out...
It was a journolist car and was hammered for it's first 5,000 miles with Tiff Needell showing how easy it is to power slide.
It's been unsympathetically tracked.
It's been stolen and recovered before the insurance paid out.
It's had an accident that was repaired without writing the vehicle off.
It's servicing has been poorly carried out.
Brake fluid and coolant changes have been poorly carried out.
Lots of people on here will tell you they have a great car, but only Mike Fishwick and Robert T really know what they have got, the rest just think they know - and so will you.
So, caveat emptor and ask lots of questions. Take some spanners and remove some plastic to check dates. Check codition of oil, check condition of coolant, check condition of brake fluid and finally (if this is good I guarantee the car has been looked after) check the condition of the power steering fluid.

The thing is, cars may have low mileage but things still get old like oil seals and rubber bushings etc
My van is 11 years old with 20K miles, its had two sets of tyres replaced due to cracking because of age and front droplinks replaced twice.

For work We have a ford ranger on a 53 plate that has just covered 35k from new.. And we've owned it from new.Gazza wrote:The thing is, cars may have low mileage but things still get old like oil seals and rubber bushings etc

It's a sack of Sh@t... It's broken down twice and its rusting badly underneath ( typical ford for you ) even now has a misfire issue.
I put it down to lack of use.. It only gets serviced every 2-3years because it doesn't do the milage..
So low milage unused vehicles are not my priority when looking for a good motor.. It's mechanically sound cars with service history, bills, invoices for replaced parts etc..
When buying 'Older' vehicles Your better off buying one with 70k that's had £100s, sometimes £1000s spent on renewed parts etc than one with 50k that's had nothing spent on it IMO..

Re: Anybody know this M, or seen it
It has full service history Mark and serviced when its due.. Like most vehicles out there..
It's unreliable because its old, had little use and only used for short journeys..
My point is vehicles need to be driven with parts replaced due to there age regardless of there milage.

As I said properly maintained which means replacing parts as and when required.
And if it's lower mileage, and you maintain propery then all the better.

Re: Anybody know this M, or seen it
Yes I do - I'm the owner - Mike
I've added the service history details onto the Pistonheads ad.
I have the fully stamped Service Book plus every invoice for both services and MOTs inc Certs.
I bought it from James Paul - a BMW specialist in Sussex last June.
They included a 3 year Gold Mechanical and Electrical Warranty with a £1000 limit per claim, transferable to any new private owner for only £25.
The car is in fantastic condition and is completely original.
It's a polish and pose car and has only done around 1500 mostly dry miles since I bought it including Z Fest at last year's Silverstone Classic.
One of your forum members has viewed it and felt it was one of the best he'd seen ( and he really went to town on his meticulous inspection) however it does have an issue with just one of the boot floor welds.
I found it hard to judge the asking price and feel I may have gone a little low.
I also do have some thoughts that as it's in such good condition, maybe I should keep it in the garage till prices inevitably rise.
I will probably sell to part fund the purchase of the dream car of my teens - a Triumph TR6 - everyone to his taste!!
Now sold

It looked a cracking example Mike, I was tempted(especially when you reduced the asking price to under 7k) !
Just goes to show they do sell quickly when a "realistic" price is asked.......................
