Post by Z3cade »

Can anyone tell me the off set/ ET of the standard M wheels?

Also what ET should I be looking for if I wanted to change the wheels for after market?

Cheers, Liam

ET 41 front and ET8 rears

Use this calculator to check the differences the ET of the new wheels will make http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Of ... or#Results

Yeah but your Nutts... :P

I'm thinking of going 7.5 front 10 rear.. I think the 8.5 ET 20 fronts will stick to far out

Sorry I don't like them. I've never been keen on the cross spoke look unless its on an MG or E Type

Just be careful as its not just the offset if you are changing the width of the wheel as well. Thats why using a site as linked is good as you need to compare full spec to OEM.

I won't comment much on whats the maximum you can go for as there is always someone who will quote offsets that make it look like a cartoon car and I don't factor in slammed stance looks.

In general you are safe with offsets giving 12-20mm more outer. Inner is usually not an issue unless you are going very wide at the rear when you may have to be careful.

The problem / benefit of the Z3m is utilising the narrow rear axle / low offset to not loose the deep dish look which is possible and ideally not fitting spacers. This usually means bespoke setup or mixing 3 series front and 5 series rear wheels. But 5 series rears usually require a spacer so you loose some possible dish.

Of course Schnitzer Type II Race with rear offset of ET9 on a 10 inch width rim is almost perfect

ps you can go 8.5 front fine with the right offset (you can fit 225/235 tyres to 8/8.5 rims with virtually no difference).

The sizes quoted were 17x8.5 ET 20 front and 17x10 ET 15 rear..

Am I right in thinking the fronts would stick outside the arch?

The fronts will extend 33.5mm further out than the OEM wheel, rears should be fine

I think CW runs something like that on his coupe but he's swapped over the top hats to accommodate with camber? Might be worth asking him. For me there is no need to go so low on the front and have to play around with camber, stretch, etc. A staggered setup using more normal front offset ie up to -15mm on oem, exaggerates the deep rear dish and looks better IMHO
