Hi
Cigar lighter does not work in Hamish. When pushed in it just stays in. NO heat whatsoever.
Fuse issue? Thoughts please

Re: Cigar lighter
yeah I would check the fuse first and then if not test the wires for current, could be the lighter is cream crackered but shouldn't be too much to replace.

Re: Cigar lighter
9/10 times it's the fuse... If you use the ciggy lighter often that is....
If the fuse isn't blown, remove the 2 screws holding the side of the console to the under dash and gently pull it back so you can peek behind it with a torch and check the connections to the underside of the lighter.
The only other thing which can cause the failure is the spiral element which heats up is broken. Use a little turpentine and an old toothbrush to clean the spiral element so you can carefully inspect it...
I have a spare, but it would cost you more in postage than finding one locally I imagine...

Re: Cigar lighter
It was the lighter itself. Fuse replaced anyway. New lighter installed - £11 approx from Stealer.
