Hi Forum members!
I have a minor problem with my Z3MR which I wonder has been experienced elsewhere. Basically my wife pushed the electric window button and the button/switch disappeared through the centre console! I've been to my local friendly BMW specialist and he tried to effect a quick repair by glueing the errant switch back into place but sadly this hasn't worked.
The switch still works perfectly but I'm now told I will need a new centre console at a cost of £183 as the lugs which hold the switch in place are broken!
Anybody else experienced this and if so is there a low cost alternative???
Thanks in advance

Re: Electric window switch problems
ive never seen it happen to the window switch but i have seen it happen the other switches as the plastic is quite thin. the problem you are going to have is sourcing another M console - they are very very rare and usually cost the same 2nd hand as brand new ! If you pulled the console out Im sure you would be able to make a fix using some strong resin. Until then I would fashion something to sit under the back of the switch for it to be pressed against so it doesnt disappear down the hole.

If the repair looks untidy you can sand back any lumps and respray the console or cover with carbon or metal finish wrap.

I have the same issue. The plastic clips which the switch sits into are part of the centre console. One side has snapped off the passenger side of mine. Not had time to investigate a fix yet, I have a spare centre console which I can swap out for mine but don't want to go down that route just yet.

Thanks guys. Seems if I want a permenent fix then I will have to splash out on a different/new console! Anyone have a decent secondhand one for a 2002 Z3M in Estoril? I am a bit worried that a brand new one will clash with my 14 year old interior!
