Bicycle (disassembled) in boot space?

Post by dslee »

Hi, am prospective Z4 owner (looking at 2.0L, 2005ish) and have a Q.

Does anyone know if I can get a racing bike in the boot, taking off the wheels and seat post? I had a look at one and the boot-space was bigger than I thought but couldn't tell.

Currently have a 2005 BWM 320d tourer and looking to be less sensible, but would like if poss to still carry bike occasionally!

I doubt you would fit it in the boot, as the poster above said though, you can get a rack instead perhaps?

Why not drive to you nearest dealer with bike at the ready and give it a try?
There are too many variables here wrt boot size and bike frame.
You may well find that you current bike fits but ANOther may not.

Thanks guys,

For various reasons, boot rack not really an option but I guess you're right, I just have to try it! Not a totally limiting factor on the purchase, though :-)

Hi dslee.
I've got an Audi A6 and they have a huge boot. I can only just fit my road bike in with the seat and wheels removed. I doubt if you'd get it in a Z4.

I have seen pics of a Z4-forum user who had a bike in the boot, so it is possible. Not sure of course of the size of the bike.

Think it was a user name of zetra.

very unlikely, even if you took off the pedals, a full size road bike is still 40" x 25" approx plus a bit to turn the bars/fork. I can't even find a folder to fit the Z3

Thanks all, bought the Z4! Bike frame would go in if I took handlebars off (OK) AND forks...:-( far too much trouble!!
