What's the opinion of PTFE based polishes?

Post by John1950 »

Last year I bought a bottle of what I innocently though was liquid 'wax' for the Zed and applied it a number of times.
But, it always seemed to be slightly 'wet' so that if you ran your fingers over the paintwork it left a noticeable smear. It also had a tendency to trap insects to it so I'd decided what I really needed was a thorough clean, rub down with detailing clay and then some proper carnuba hard wax - well that was until I saw the price of it.

Anyway, spotted this on E-Bay this afternoon, has anyone got any opinions please?

Hmmm - I did wonder. I've watched lots of the Meguiars videos on Youtube so I think this year I must try and get a bunch of their products for looking after the car.

Thanks.

Loads of reviews regarding ptfe wax online, most agree it's a gimmick. I wash with any car shampoo, wax with any of the known brands and then finish with auto glym extra gloss protection and car looks great bearing in mind it's over 16 years old.

2nd that....A good wash...and a wax once every 4 months with Rally car wax....£.2.00. Once a year to the auto valet for a thorough detailing, claying and waxing.
