Air bag refurb

Post by snurdf »

Well not exactly a refurb. I'm waiting for my M tec wheel to come back from Royal Steering Wheels and I wondered what is the best way to make the air bag look new. I've got a new badge to stick on, I'm just wondering what's best for the black part.

If you take it to an autobody shop, they will re-furb it for you. These days the autobody guys are well equipped to do plastics repairs and re-furbs on account of all the plastic bumpers etc etc they are required to do on modern cars. Alternative, take it to an auto trimmer, they can laminate a layer of thin black (or any other colour you may prefer) "leatherette" (vynil) to the airbag pod. It should be a simple job for them, as the leatherette can be folded and laminated around the back of the cover to finish it well.

Thanks for that info mate, I happen to know a retrimmer as it happens. I'll have to go and see him.
