Post by johnz3 »

Anyone know of a product, or 'tip' re toning down shiny leather. I have been doing some leather colouring (black) and it is a bit to shiny. Thanks

Furniture clinic sell a matt coating for leather... They have semi gloss, semi matt and matt...get the matt. You can apply it with a small bit of sponge...dries in 20 mins tops...

It's not a dye...it's a "Finisher" completely clear... so apply the colour first then finish with the matt clear  coat..

Yep...comes in a plastic bottle and applied with a piece of sponge rubber...easy ! dries really quick and leaves the leather with a matt finish.

a company called Mars oil use to make a product that came in a lip stick type of despencer the you could put on leather riding saddles that had pig skin seats ,these got very shiney with use and slippy, this stuff made you stick like glue to the saddle, at the moment I'm using Effax leather Combi (got from tack shops) on my seats to clean and feed them

Hi shiney leather is dirty leather. I have been here myself the best product I found was Dr leather liquid cream or the wipes they offer are excellent.
Good luck

I use this stuff......Poorboys Natural Look Dressing on seats, dash etc., Goes a long way and quite forgiving, just wipe it on and give it a quick buff. Not sure if it would help on already glossy seats though?

Gets good write ups in the reviews as well.
