BMW Show, Santa Pod, Sun 19/9/10 *UPDATE - 18/09/10*
Poddington is a smallish village. The last time I went to the Garden Centre (a couple of years ago now, may be better now) access wasn't that good, the Centre is set back off the High Street in-between the houses on the left coming in from Wellingborough. You can get some idea of it on Google Maps Street view
but were zeders...............the rules of the road don't apply to us....Geoff H wrote:Poddington is a smallish village. I thought it looked ok on Street View Geoff. My only concern was that there might be gates across the entrance to the car park that could be locked at 7:30 on a Saturday morning. If anyone has any other ideas for a meet up point then I'm open to suggestions...Geoff H wrote:Poddington is a smallish village. How about Tesco's in Wellingborough?
Sells 99 octane & big car park, just off A46 & it'll be very quiet at that time of the morning.

REVISED MEETING POINT
REVISED MEETING POINT
That looks like a better option, thanks Stu. Multimap says it'll take 19 minutes to get from there to Santa Pod so we'll stick with the original timings i.e. 7:30am meet up, 7:45am depart for Santa Pod.stu wrote:How about Tesco's in Wellingborough?

I forgot to put that the Garden Centre gates would probably be locked at that time in the morning. Tescos is right by the Premier Inn, 2 minutes away. There is also a large car park in the Retail Park (B&Q) opposite the Premier Inn, either would be good for you but as you say Tescos has petrol, I use Tescos for my petrol as I only live just over a mile away. The road through the Town centre is still closed with the road works

Guys I'm afraid I'm probably not going to make it but will decide last minute, combination of bad weather forecast, running deep in a poker tournement that finishes tomorrow (I'll be in the bad books when SWMBO finds out I'm not going holiday shopping ), going on holiday next week and having to get car ready for winter storage before I go = gutted.
Have a great day though and I hope you get some sun

Just received the following info from the organisers:
"Dear All,
Please find attached you club map ready for the BMW Show on Sunday 19th Sept 2010.
If you could let your members know the pitch number and to have the vehicle passes on display when they enter the venue, this will speed up the access as the Marshalls will be able to direct you more efficiently.
Gates open at 8am on Saturday 18th for weekend ticket holders or 7am on Sunday 19th for day only ticket holders.
You can access your stand on the Saturday if you so wish.
Please remember that no glass or PA's are allowed on site or on your pitch. Anyone wanting to run on the track must bring a full valid driving licence with them.
I hope you have a good weekend and enjoy the show!!"
This is the site map, WE ARE ON PITCH NUMBER 8
Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

Looks good!
I don't suppose anyone will be bringing an airbag reset tool with them? Whilst hoovering out the car and adjusting the seats I seem to have snagged the pretensioner cable and set off the airbag light. I did something similar 2 years ago and had it reset without any problems... until now?
Chris

Had a good time, shortened on track by the weather and a poorly E30! Still didn't improve on my pb, but did improve a lot and my last run was better than and E46 M3 with SMG, so happy with that
Great to meet so many new Z'ers today and see some lovely new cars too.
Much to everyone's surprise, I am a big fan of the pink Z3, which really picks out the Z's curves, great paintjob I reckon, lovely wheels and a few choice M additions to the styling too.
Yalden's Z is better in the flesh than the picks - keep it you mad fool!
Didn't get to see Rich's MZLS3 run - shame.
Mark & Ian, thanks for the tickets!
Cheers all

crap run
I did 2 runs = 1st 13.01 2nd 13.07 = pants.. traction was a problem.
(thats my excuse)
car seemed to develop a miss fire on 2nd run.... refused to get next 2 tickets but someone told me i did a 15 ..... No way would i collect that 1,
did 1 more run don't know time but then went home..
last year at stratford i did 15 runs at 12.6 every time..
OH well next time maybe. interestingly the e46 supercharged corvette could not get out 14's until i suggested he let tyre pressure down = he picked up a second faster.
Anyway enjoyed the day and nice to meet everyone.

Really enjoyed it today, could have been a bit warmer though!
Stu, your zed is rapid
Chris, it was great to finally see your zed in the flesh - don't sell it!!
The funniest moment of the day for me was provided by a group of lads who quite liked my Z1 - I think. I didn't understand much of what they were saying bar a couple of words - 'sick' and 'gangsta'
Ian, thanks for all the effort you put in organising the zed stand - much appreciated

Seduced by the zed side
Great turnout today folks, thanks for supporting the forum. Good to meet up with the regulars again and nice to chat with those on their first meet - I think I got round to saying hello to everyone. Shame that I had to leave early today (work commitments ) but had a great time whilst I was there - I even got to drive Barbie Princesses z3
I'll get some pictures posted later in the week when I return home.

I too had a good day out; the overcast sky and cold winds certainly didn't ruin it for me.
It was great to meet a few new faces; tricky, stu, Ian, watkins etc, and to see a few new cars.
Stu - I watched you run a couple times and was chuffed when you showed up the Phoenix Yellow E46 M3... great work! Is your car simply an M52B28 with bolt on S/C? It seems a serious bit of kit...!
Snatch - The quality of install with the LS3 is faultless, much better than I was expecting. It sounded nuts too! I am guessing by the plate of the E36 you were dragging against that it has a S/C'd LS1? ...bloody hooligans...
Ian - Thanks for sorting out the stand and also for rectifying my fault

I got to see the cars but not too many folks around when I passed through the Zed Zone.
Great showing of Zeds guys. Well done for flying the flag for ZR. I did that show 3 years ago and I think we had about 8 or 10 cars.
My lovely 330ci was all clean and polished sitting pretty in the 'For Sale' compound, but sadly no takers. Looks like I'll have to spend some dosh on a real advert!
Cheers.
