This is our annual outing to the BMWCC event at Tatton Park and is one of the few BMWCC events that you can exhibit at without being a member of the club. I will be organising the usual bacon butty/sausie sarnie meet before the show, followed by a procession into the park. We will hopefully also be doing the usual "bimble" and early evening meal afterwards. More details will be posted as an when they emerge.

More info on Tatton Park and BMWCC. Some pics from previous years here: 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007 and 2006.

Sorry for the delay in getting this thread up, but work has been manic. I've started a new thread from Mike's so that I can update the lead post with details.

Pre-Show Meet
This will be at Booths in Knutsford between 9.15 and 10.15 am. Bacon butties and sausie sarnies are available from 9.30. We will leave in convoy for the show at 10.15 and this year we will try not to gum up the car park on our way out. Note that I don't take the most direct route to the park as the first set of traffic lights only allow about 3 cars out at a time - instead we will take a tour de block and go via a set of lights with a longer change on them.

The Show
The show is a BMWCC organised event which is open to non-members. We normally occupy an area marked out specifically for "Z" cars. There should be some trade stands, a coffee bar and a marquee. There is not an awful lot in the way of food at the show, so if you want snack, please bring them with you. If you are not doing the BBs, then directions to Tatton Park can be found here. There is a small entry fee for the show as well as the park entry fee of £5.

The Bimble
This will be a pleasant little amble out into the Peak District. Dave has planned us a route and will send out TomTom ITN files to those that want them. The route will bring us back to our evening venue, but there is scope to drive half the route and leave us after our pitstop. Please PM Dave L2 with your email address if you would like a copy of the ITN file.

The Evening Meal
This will be at the Plough & Flail in Mobberley and we have a table booked. I need to know numbers in advance for this, so if you would like to join us, please make sure to let me know, and I will see if they can squeeze you in.

How to take part
Please post up your interest here and I will maintain a list of whom we are expecting to attend. If you could also state your interest in BBs and EMs too, it will help me gauge numbers. If the start is too early and you can only make the show, then please still post your interest as we need to tell the organisers roughly how many cars we are bringing.

25+ cars last year, and 4 so far this year, because it coincides with Santa Pod..
such a shame.....
was the Tatton date organised before, or after the Santa Pod date was set?

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

The Tatton park date was announced on the Tatton Park website at the begining of the year. Robert's annual thread on here doesn't usually go up until about a month before the event, but Rob has been stupidly busy with work this year.

Santa Pod and Tatton clashed last year too (I think), but in previous years the Tatton meet has been in September, last year was the first time it was in July.

Agreed, such a shame that they clash. I'd already committed to organising Santa Pod again before I realised it was the same date as Tatton. You'd think that the organisers of both events would look at other BMW events and try to deconflict :head:

Oh, it gets better - it also conflicts with an AH event that I'm doing - so I'm doing Sat at the AH thing and Sun at the BMW one - which means I have two cars to polish! :P

Hopefully we can rally a few more of the troops for this one - there is time yet.

I think it also clashes with the British Grand Prix.

Well that was the reason an E30 guy gave me for not going to Santa Pod. :head:

Bacon butties have been investigated. Nice lady said "oh, you come every year" and that it was no problem. Even better they have now started serving food from 9.30am, so we can take a little longer over eating them and not arrive quite so fashionably late. :P

Route for the Bimble has been planned and will take in some nice parts of the Peak District. Finish point is not yet decided as I need to know numbers better for booking the EM venue. I have about 3 pubs in mind round Mobberley for this.

Hi Mark,

Just done some preliminary investigations for a new venue this evening - the Plough and Flail at Mobberley looks quite nice. They are pretty busy on a Sunday evening (hell, they were busy on a Tuesday evening, but then they did have 53 classic cars in the car park!), so I will need to know numbers quite well in advance to book it. I've eaten at their sister pub and it was good and those eating this evening liked it.

Failing that, then sticking round there we have The Frozen Mop (last years venue), The Roebuck (a couple of years before!), The Bird In The Hand, The Church Inn....

The Plough and Flail at Mobberley looks good :-)

I'll declare why I asked now - I've been to the Frozen Mop 3 times and while the food is good the service on all 3 occassions was at best indifferent and slow. Took the edge off a birthday do last year. 3 strikes and you're out.

Please put me + 1 down as interested for BB, bimble and EM.

Take it as confirmed if you decide to go to the Plough and Flail :-)

Cheers

Mark, that was my feeling as well. Prices are similar to the Mop, so I'm happy to go with the Plough and Flail, assuming we can get a table. I'll need to make a reservation about a week in advance.

The menu is on their website here:

Hi Robert

I may be able to make the BB and Tatton if I can get the day off work so please put me down as a probable.

You will enjoy the Plough and Flail though. We've been a few times and the food and service are excellent and you may get to see a celeb or two.

Hi Greg and welcome to the forum.

Evening meal is currently booked for 7pm - is that too later for you? The bimble is likely to be somewhere around the 3 hour mark, and I am going on the assumption that we will leave the show between 3.30 and 4pm.

Would you like to join us for the traditional bacon butties beforehand? Gives us a chance work out who everyone is, then we can make sure we have the right cars for the bimble.

Hi Robert

I emailed Jeff (BMWCC Chairman) this evening and put him in the picture with the excellent work you've been doing in preparation for Sunday.

OK it's unfortunate that we won't get the same turn out as last year but at least we are flying the Zed-flag.

Have a geat day and many thanks for your efforts - I only wish I could be with you.

Rob, I'm gonna play it by ear in Sunday. Will have to decide if I have a lie in at the hotel and nurse my hangover after the races or if the weather looks nice enough to give up a rare lie in.

If I don't make it have a great day

Thanks to Rob, for once again organising the ZR contingent this year. We had more Zeds than expected for breakfast with more joining us at the show making a very respectible turn out of Zeds again this year.

Thanks to eveyone who attended we were definitely the highligt of the show. Great to see old faces again and meet new members - Greg01, hope your new list of tweaks isn'too long :)

Great food and company at the Plough & Flail last night, I'm sure we'll be going there again. Hope to see you all again next year.

Thank you Rob for organising the run in etc :cheers .

Sorry I could not get around to say goodbye, it was raining too hard, decided to go home and see the end of the golf (Scottish Open).Rained most of the way home on and off but then we had a beautiful evening, sat in the garden with a glass of wine and had a read.
A good day :D

Thanks Rob and Dave for organising.

Thanks also to the kind folks who threw a cover over my open Zed when it started to rain and I was miles away!

Tried to close hood but unfortunately electrics will not allow it - cannot claim credit for blanket though - somebody else.

Haven't had a chance to look at my pics yet, but I'll post some up when I do. The weather perked up again after a while and it stayed dry for our bimble and even into the evening for my drive home. I had plans of watching the grand prix highlights, but I'm afraid I fell asleep about 5 mins in and woke up in time to see the last 5 mins.

Thanks to everyone who turned out for it. I certainly had a good day out and it was nice to meet a few people who I've spoken to on here, but never met in person.

I don't suppose anyone noticed at what point the cover from my front towing eye disappeared did they? I don't fancy doing the bimble again at 5mph looking for it.

Cheers R.
