Wheel finishes - shadow chrome v chromeline
Wheel finishes - shadow chrome v chromeline
Can anyone tell me if these 2 wheel finishes are the same? The one on the left is new and appears shinier than the one on the right which is 14 years old. I don't know if it is shinier because it is new and hasn't had 14 years of use, wear and abuse or could one finish be chromeline and the other shadow chrome?

I can't actually give a definitive answer, but I have head that there is a visible variation in even the the oem finishes. People that have had to buy a replacement wheel or two from the dealer have had to find matching ones from stock. I think shadow chrome is a difficult finish to achieve consistency on.

They dont look like shadow chrome as there is no colour variation over the rim. Its almost, if not impossible to match shadow chrome.
Sapphire black/Imola red and black interior/ red roof/ S54 - the only RHD one made.

The shadow chrome that I have encountered has a gloss black inner rim.

Shadow chrome is a black base layer with silver over the top. On those wheels they've obviously decided not to put the silver coat over the whole wheel, but that's not what defines it as shadow chrome.
