Alas, was driving home on a warm hazzy evening, and was blinded by evening setting sun. Lorry half parked on road. BANG!. Car destroyed. Written off & can't be mended :(

Unfortunatley, although I have never had an accident in 26 years since getting my driving liecense and building a full NCB, I didn't realise it wasn't protected, so am guessing I won't be able to afford insuring another Z. <sigh> Oh well.

Thanks again for all the help with the car. Can whole hartedly recommend Z3's to anyone. This forum is great, helpful and friendly place.

I'm sorry to hear that. At least you, presumably, emerged unscathed, which is the main thing.

That's rubbish mate, sorry to hear that. As long as everyone involved was ok the metal is replaceable. The Zed bug will draw you back in time I'm sure. :)

Cheers

Thanks for kind words.

Yes, it was quite a bang, luckily these german cars are very well made. Also glad I had no passenger on board, as they would have taken the brunt of the impact. Window pillar was deformed and glass everywhere. My only injury was a mental one. Keep getting sudden flashbacks of the bang which makes me jolt (kinda like that dream when you suddenly feel like the floor dissapears beneath you lol), but its clearing.

Annoying thing is, I have enough saved for a really decent Z3 or reasonable Z4, but even a 1.8 Z3 or 2.0 Z4 will probably be sky high insurance now. so..... am reluctantly looking at 1.0 polos etc :bawl:

Btw, I still have the 6 CD autochanger if anyone wants it cheap. Is of no use to me now.

Shop hard on your insurance. When I bought my Zed I started a new policy with 0 no claims bonus and paid £230 for my 2.8, Even without any limit on mileage it would have been less than £300. If you still love the cars don't be put off until you've done your homework. I do think a 1.0 polo may just not quite cut it for you. I find these comparison sites as good as anything. Good luck! :)

Sorry to hear about your accident glad you're ok, some insurance companies only deduct 2 years ncb after an accident. So as already said check everything out before you make a decision.

Will do. I had as much NCB as you could have (9 years?) but I heard they are sneaky and only say it goes up to 5 years. I don't think I will loose all of it, but say they take 2 years off, it will go to 3yrs NCB. Think thats a bit cheeky, but you can't argue. Will shop around though.

Cheers

I agree some companies will take up to 15 years ncb others only 9, so you loose 6 years ncb going from one company to the other. :head:

Really sad news to hear that someones pride and joy is damaged, let alone wrecked!....but, you walked away albeit probably a bit bruised. Shop around, sure you'll find something competitive and get yourself behind a 'Z' wheel again...cheers :drive

I am very sorry to hear about that. Try A-Plan insurance and try to speak to Clare Ironside 01635 874646; they specialise in awkward things like kit cars and classics, and as a broker they can shop around for you. I have a good deal on my X-Type and am promised a good one on my Z when it's due, and on my Westfield. On the last, it will cost less to insure with them on limited mileage than on laid-up cover with Churchill.

A work colleague of mine drove a rented TR7 (very wedge shaped) into a stationary skip full of rubble due a dirty windscreen and low morning sun. He had no seat belt on either. Apart from being KO'd for a minute or two he was fine. An instant conversion to seat belt wearing though - before the compulsory wearing laws. Oh, and the TR7 was even more wedge shaped afterwards!

It sounds as though you were the biggest loser in this accident and if the claim by the owner of the lorry wasn't too big you shouldn't lose all your no claims discount. Shop around if you really want to keep Zedding. I'm sure you can come up with a solution. Good luck, Tony.

Sorry to hear about your accident, but if you've held a licence for 26 years and built up the max NCB you are NOT a bad risk...and risk is what insurance premiums are based upon..go shop around plenty of insurance companies out there and plenty of good ZEDS......its natural to feel a little down after a ding, pride dented and all that...most important is your able to drive again.

good luck......see you back here soon. :thumb:
