Yellow Plug Under Seat

Post by Lancsbob »

ImageHi

Am trying to remove the passenger seat to look at the sensors under carpet
but can't work out how the yellow plug unplugs, don't want to force anything
in case i break it, can anyone describe how to do it.
Have disconnected battery.
Just realised that it looks like iv'e got to remove half the interior to get at sensors, now asking
myself is it worth all the hassel & what can i do if i get too them?
Any opinions, am i wasting my time?

The black part slides out, on your picture you can see in the yellow plastic there is what looks like a rounded cut out. Pull the black and it slides a bit like a match box. It's used to hold the plugs together so they don't work loose. I've read this three times and it makes no sense   hope it does to you

You don't have to remove the entire interior.
1st - the seats out
2nd - the foot well side trims behind which are the speakers
3rd - the plastic trims along the inside of the bottom of the door frame

You should now be able to pull the fitted carpet up and towards the center of the car and get access to the sensors under it.

Thanks, it does make sense, how far does the slide pull out & which part do you pull to disconnect, top or bottom of picture?

Why do they just say "disconnect plug" when its so complicated & risk breaking it. :?

Thanks for that its a great help.
I think i'm going to need more professional help soon though.
A proper diagnosis is needed i think.
I might contact Robert T to see if he can help.

If it showing an acceleration (not accelerator ) sensor fault, then DSC has two sensors, a cheap one and an expensive one. If the sensor has died due to getting wet, then it is important to make sure that there is no water still under the seat (there are several inches of foam under there).

If you can bring the car to me, I can take a look at it with you and plug it in for a proper diagnostic with INPA. I'm just back from my jollies and full of cold, so it might be wise to wait a few weeks until I am disease free!
