Post by Richie_Rich »

I nearly got rid last year but ended up spending a four figure sum to get it through... this year I'm afraid she's been replaced so has to go...

Only one offer of £500, so it's going to MotorHog for £600 this week, it's a shame to send a solid Z3 to the breakers yard but cash is cash.

Probably you could get your 600 back by parting it yourself and selling out the lights and wheels only :D

I would have been tempted to take the clear front & rear lights off and replace with amber. And remove the split rims and replace with whatever cheapies. The surplus might have seen you £400 back.

Then sell the car for £600. I think your problem is with a 1.9 the ceiling price for an MOT failure is lower than the £1,000. Unfairly in your case as it has some nice bits. But I'm not sure that's how people work.

You've probably been a bit too honest with the condition too. Many Z3s carry a number of the faults you mention and most sellers wouldn't bother saying.

If I didn't have 5 projects and 1 breaker on the go I'd have considered it myself.

2001 Z3 2.2 Topaz Blue (Trudy) - Keeper rebuilt from a write-off
2002 Z3 2.2 Titan Silver (Cookies) - Keeper rebuilt having been bought with a seized engine
2002 Z3 3.0 Sapphire Black (Peanut) - Keeper awaiting rebuilding having been bought as an abandoned project
Plus Willy, Kodak & Maycee - All 2.2 Sport projects. Yes, 6 is a lot of Z3s :)
Always happy to try and help with spares :)

Thanks for the replies and the ideas regarding the lights and the wheels... unfortunately I do not have the time or the mechanical aptitude to be replacing the lights... and the wheels really do need a refurb!
Yes maybe I was a bit too honest about its condition but I'm an honest guy and wanted to be clear about it :)
I will be sending her on her merry way as soon as they can come pick it up.
Thanks again, Rich.
