Re: Randy Forbes Rear Diff Strengthening Kit
Yelton, I eventually decided to get the job done by Classic Heroes. They prefer to keep any work done on cars to be as original as possible. They basically drilled out any suspect spot welds, filled the holes and re-spot welded and re-enforced with seam welds along the ridges in the floor pressings....

Randy Forbes Rear Diff Strengthening Kit
Would anybody be interested in purchasing an unused Randy Forbes Rear Diff Mount Strengthening Kit? I purchased and imported the kit from the USA many years ago and for various reasons it was never fitted to my car. My car has recently been in for a 'mid-life refurb' and I decided to go with a more ...

Re: Boot weld repairers around North Yorkshire?
That seems a very fair price to me. I totally agree with your thoughts on the car and how it should be repaired and the RF kit does appear to be the most substantial. I have already had the RF kit laying around for a number of years waiting to have it fitted. After seeing the work carried out on you...

Re: Boot weld repairers around North Yorkshire?
Rob, out of interest are you going for the full Randy Forbes repair that includes modifying the diff mount to two point to accept the 'two ear' diff cover from..M3 Cover...I think it was ? I believe it includes changing the speedo timing plate which was included in my kit.

Re: Boot weld repairers around North Yorkshire?
That's great news. I've had the Randy Forbes kit for a few years now but never found a place I can trust to do a good job fitting.
I'll be interested to see the results of their work. I also have Redish down as a possibility. I'm a bit further south in St Neots.

Eventually got a chance to let the car sit there with radio on for an hour and great news, alternate radio Code entered and now working. Thanks again.

Turfarlian, thanks. Its strange. The radio is now coming up with 'Code Wait' and doesn't let me change anything by using the button keys. I have also found a Radio Pass BMW card that states the code is 9479 (Europe) which i do seem to recognise from years ago. Anyway at the moment I have no access t...

I have the Randy Forbes kit but not yet found an installer/welder. Did you have to modify the exhaust system on your car once the kit was installed?

Damon,
Would be very interested for feedback on the job you had done and where it was done. As you say I have the RF kit but this is not necessarily the method I will finally go for.

Damon, I am in St Neots (near MK) and would be interested to hear where you get your boot floor sorted. Swamper,
Will that bit of kit operate on a 1999 Z3M, because I can't see any reference in the list of compatible cars? Looks like a great bit of kit if it does, appears to give 'all access' to the car.

For the last couple of years my 1999 Z3M Roadster has initially failed its MOT due to ABS warning lit on dashboard. Just to clarify, because Earl's appear to do two clutch hoses, is it the straight ended one I should be ordering?

My Z3M is very difficult to get into first gear. Depressing the clutch appears to disengage the gears OK but going from neutral into first is always very hard. Might be my imagination but appears to be worse as the car warms up? Any suggestions? New gearbox oil / clutch adjustment etc ?

I'm thinking of buying a Z4M Coupe. Are there any pitfalls that I should be aware of when searching?
Do they suffer with anything like 'boot floor welds' as in the Z3M's?
Any advice welcomed.
