Re: Randy Forbes Rear Diff Strengthening Kit

Yelton, I eventually decided to get the job done by Classic Heroes. They prefer to keep any work done on cars to be as original as possible. They basically drilled out any suspect spot welds, filled the holes and re-spot welded and re-enforced with seam welds along the ridges in the floor pressings....

Randy Forbes Rear Diff Strengthening Kit

Would anybody be interested in purchasing an unused Randy Forbes Rear Diff Mount Strengthening Kit? I purchased and imported the kit from the USA many years ago and for various reasons it was never fitted to my car. My car has recently been in for a 'mid-life refurb' and I decided to go with a more ...

Re: Boot weld repairers around North Yorkshire?

That seems a very fair price to me. I totally agree with your thoughts on the car and how it should be repaired and the RF kit does appear to be the most substantial. I have already had the RF kit laying around for a number of years waiting to have it fitted. After seeing the work carried out on you...

Rob, out of interest are you going for the full Randy Forbes repair that includes modifying the diff mount to two point to accept the 'two ear' diff cover from..M3 Cover...I think it was ? I believe it includes changing the speedo timing plate which was included in my kit.

That's great news. I've had the Randy Forbes kit for a few years now but never found a place I can trust to do a good job fitting.

I'll be interested to see the results of their work. I also have Redish down as a possibility. I'm a bit further south in St Neots.

Will that bit of kit operate on a 1999 Z3M, because I can't see any reference in the list of compatible cars? Looks like a great bit of kit if it does, appears to give 'all access' to the car.

My Z3M is very difficult to get into first gear. Depressing the clutch appears to disengage the gears OK but going from neutral into first is always very hard. Might be my imagination but appears to be worse as the car warms up? Any suggestions? New gearbox oil / clutch adjustment etc ?
