There are some luddites on this site, aren't there? Modern diesels are better than petrol in almost every way. More torque, very similar power (but at lower revs), and much better fuel economy. The problem with most cars with aftermarket HID kits installed is they buy the wrong bloody one!! The H7 hid comes in 2 guises, the regular H7 for a projector lens and an H7R for reflector style hedlamps. I used Redline D4 auto transmission fluid in my manual 2.8, can't recommend it enough, got rid if my sticking gear and no longer tries to pop into 5th instead of 3rd, and now feels so precise.

I would get an Alpine head unit and one of their power pack amps, is all plug and play and will fit behind the dash, install takes 20 minutes at most. That is head unit sorted. Speakers? Do you have air con?
If so do you turn it off?
Turning it off allows bacteria to grow and will smell musty. Just leave it on all the time.
Turning it off will dry the seals as well, and you will then get leaks.

Nothing stopping you using 17s with the same tyres on, the wider tyres on the rear helped add a bit of grip and increase some understeer, which many prefer, I have found going the same all round can be preferable, less tramlining, and a slightly more neutral handling balance.

I think that site makes more sense if your car is still in warranty, it keeps it looking stock, but when out of warranty just bypass the CDV completely.

If you can just bypass the cdv on Z's why do you need it?
Also, it is really simple to remove your current one, pop the grommet out yourself and put it back in again.

I would say put some Redline D4 ATF in there to start off with, this is about as thin as you can safely go and in theory should make the changes ...

There is no difference in tyre wall height between a 245.40.17 and a 225.45.17 tyre, the width is different but not the sidewall. 24.977" overall diameter for the 225 tyre and 24.724" for the 245 tyre. The first measurement is the width, so 225 wide and 245 wide, the second measurement is ...

I have had a few BMWs where running different treads on the front to back gave exactly the results you have said. Back end becomes a twitchy mess. Not always the case, but what you describe it would be my first guess. I have just changed the shocks and two broken springs on my z along with roll bar ...
