Gelertd1 You will probably find the below two threads of great interest. Odds are if you lose the key you will also lose the fob. My posts within these threads will take you to Komis' post of some years ago that I have referred countless people to. None of it is that hard to do. Robert is right only...

As long as you are confident to take off the trim (not hard) and then manipulate the module location its easy. i was a little hesitant but would certainly have a go again if i had too. Ignition Keys
Incidentally a new key will not always cost that much. There are two versions of the following story: A number of spares are made with the car so I am told and stored at the factory. They can be ordered through dealerships and are delivered in 3 - 4 days from Germany. It depends how many spares have...

Alarm Fob
I could be wrong but I thought that a 1998 would have a separate remote fob for the locking and alarm. The key remotes were later. :puzzle: Is the correct answer. The car would once have had a torch BMW Key and a Grey black triangular like fob with it to activate the alarm system if fitted - Most we...

Hi Didn't own a 2.0 - so no expert. This sounds to me like a Cam / crank position sensor issue. I think the 2.0's have these. Really you need to get it plugged in and a diagnosis ran on Carsoft or something similar to define the issue through fault codes. The sensors are about £80 IIRC, and with at ...

Temp Issues
Of course check the basics as the above correctly state. Apologies I should have said that. I would hope for a thermo issue but experience tells me that this will be viscous related, especially the fact it has ocurred in this 'extreme' weather. The difficulty is diagnosing the failure of the couplin...

Rob13 and Robt thanx, thought i read that somewhere about the gauge. Its a manual so really the center of the gauge should be the norm.
