I used existing wiring. Are you sure the bog standard set up has an amp?

Re: 1998 1.9 Z3 Sudden higher pitch engine whine
I am thinking alternator. I had a burnt electric smell today with my new battery needed a jump from a boost pack. I am not too sure if it is an easy swap over or not. Looks a bit confined. I have found a new one with 12 months warranty for £90. Hopefully I can swap it out my self.

1998 1.9 Z3 Sudden higher pitch engine whine
Car has sat for a week in garage just started her up and there is a higher pitch engine whir/whine . Seems hard to locate. Turning into a costly caper these older cars. Car is a 1998 1.9 with 87000 miles.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWPeGdS ... e=youtu.be

Front foot well speaker upgrade ?? Originals not that bad
I have put a pioneer head unit in my 1.9 Z3 which has really improved the music sound. I have tried a 15cm pair of kenwoods that were £55 from Halfords ..... Sounded worse than standard speakers. I have tried some Fusion Encounter 240w . 6.5" 4 ohm. EM-CM65 ... these sounded worse. It seems the...

Sounds exactly how mine behaves. You could have same 'problem'.

Grommet part number for handle cover replacement
I am looking for the oval Grommet at the back of the door that allows you access to the door handle cover latch . Can any one find a link to purchase in the UK? I have found every door part imaginable apart form that grommet.

Z3 1.9 takes time for idle speed to reach correct point.
When stopping in traffic engine stays at 1300 rpm approx. After a short while it drops to a 1000 rpm. Eventually it settles to its normal idle speed of 700-800 rpm. Is there some sort of air leakage problem here or nothing to worry about?

Any one tried Hankook Ventus Prime 3 K125 ?
I just ordered x4 for under £130 (16"). I know they are not really that sporty but My 21 year old 1.9 doesn't get thrown around that much. I was trying to get Uniroyal Rainsport 3's but x2 tyre companies were messing me about trying to get hold of them. I have had the Hankook evos (sportier) on...

I have to change the switch. Does it pop out or do I need to get access from the back of the toggle switches ?

Re: 1998 Z3 key question UK
The guy I bought car off has found another key . It is probably number 3 in the list.
The spare key with no buttons.
Could this be used to copy for a new master key with buttons from locksmith?

£214 from stealer probably not an option. It may be my only option as there is no 'master' key to copy.

1998 Z3 key question UK
I only have 1 grey bodied key for my 98 Z3 UK. It does not lock the storage space behind the seats. It does not lock boot. It opens and locks central locking including boot and starts car . It has no buttons on it . Perhaps the locks have been changed? would there have been a fob type key when it wa...

Re: newbie leaky roof questions
Door membranes can cause water to come in to foot well. Pop off door card and check /reseal with silicone sealant. They are a real weak flimsy foam like material.

Z4 2.5 SE Synthetic oil change...Flushing question
Hi my new 04 2.5 SE Z4 58,000 miles got an oil service from the 2nd hand car place I got it. To be honest They could have put chip oil in it for all I know. I am going to do a castrol edge 0 40 oil and filter change. I could be putting syth. oil on to old mineraloil left overs. Would it be prudent t...
