I am sure I was told somewhere that first fit exhausts on VW/Audi are designed to last 9 years, but aftermarket ones (even if "genuine") are designed to last only 12-24 months. I would think that BMW are similar.

As can be evinced from the above post I made, my Z1 has the BTB exhaust fitted. It looks nice but really is a trifle too muted for my tastes. Why that should be so becomes entirely clear when you peer inside those beefy-looking tailpipes and realise they are just shells and contain weedy little pea...

If you've got a Z1 :D Not yet, but some that I've looked at have rusty looking standard exhausts, and this looks so much better. Hi Sandy, welcome to the board. Well done indeed. A friend has spent ages trying to do similar in a TVR. It is amazing the niggly little things that can cause trouble. I like the CAD approach too, that can really help sort out the basics.
