Re: Z3 sills.....
Hi, Deffo some penetrative oil with some lead time. Go for a brew and a breakfast at least. Depends if they've been taken off before and different fixings used but, Usually 8 or 10mm self tapping hex nut screws. To get the sills completely off you'll need to remove both wheel arch liners from ALL co...

These guys are a recommend https://www.opieoils.co.uk/
The search function by vehicle will give a list of all the oils recommended for your vehicle from an oil specialist. Hard to beat their prices for premium oils also. They do packs including filters etc. Worth a look.

Re: Not firing on all cylinders
I'd disconnect the MAF to see if that changes anything and it's not faulty. Mice was running rough as, loads of missing and would then be OK. Stop engine and restart and missing again. My local indy replaced mine then the issue came straight back so it wasnt that. What it was in the end is the solen...

Re: Please help save my 2.8L all original atlanta blue!
Can you not let them write it off and give you the money - then buy the car for a nominal amount back off the insurance company? Then use the money for the repairs picking up any extra cost yourself? Sounds like it's not written off due to never being road worthy again but simply because it's cheape...

Re: Pinking (pre-ignition) 1999 2ltre
I wouldn't use that shower where you took your car to be hooked up to their diagnostics. All the gear, no idea. Did the same to me, charged me for new MAF and then my car broke down instantly with same issue and they wanted to charge me to recover it after their work. £400 out of pocket. Whatever yo...

I had this, £400 later at the indy. Indy with all the gear no idea. It broke down again at home after filling with fuel. Wouldnt even come and pick the car up as it wouldnt start. In the end I got INPA and worked it out to be the switch before the carbon canister (Vent solenoid?). Cost £10 for 2nd h...

Re: Halfords tool sets for carrying out Z3 overhaul
I bought a set of these last year. Changing the sparkplugs I noticed the ratchet was faulty. Finished the job and took the ratchet into Halfords under lifetime warranty. I was told any tools with moving parts are not covered by the lifetime warranty. Fortunately mine was still within 28 days of purc...

Or mine if it's only the steel collet that's rusted. Drill it out and use stainless steel nut and bolt to take up the tension in the re usable spring spring. Permanent and the mirror still folds backwards. http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=34083&p=319059&hilit=corroded+w...

And can I ask the OP what the reason for the question was? Is it just to know if one exists?
Maybe you can define your interpretation of 'stock'?

Still got the stock stereo. So it's stock. Then again the oil in it isn't BMW oil, the tyres are Falkens. And it's got more miles on it than it was when it was stock.

Re: Wing Mirror - can it be fixed?
Easier- yes but not cost effective. Second hand ones are quite expensive. A second hand one will still be 10+years old so you take a gamble in the condition of the innards lasting only a short time. Fix with Stainless steel and tidy up the base. Is much cheaper and will last longer. Depends if you a...

Re: Wing Mirror - can it be fixed?
Yes it can, Try my fix. It's permanent and allows the movement of the mirror base still. The spring should be OK as the rust on it is from the collet, few whacks with a hammer should shake the rust off. If you want to go further than myself you could drill out the centre of the bolt on a lathe to ch...

77Si, You can do it if I can do it. If you don't feel up to it you can send me the innards (both aluminium parts) and I'll do it for you for 20 quid plus postage. PM me if you would like me to do it. If I can't fix it then no charge obviously. If it's the steel collet that has corroded (and will sna...

If you want an idea of informed rock bottom then it has to be what a trader would give you in part exchange. Use NetworkQ website for dealer trade in prices, it uses the glasses car guide and it's free, with options to alter the mileage for your car. I'd consider this rock bottom. As mentioned above...
