Lambda Probe Test Interpretation Help
Hi there, hoping someone can help. Car is a 99 2.0 manual Every once in a while I get a really rough idle from cold or a really rich smelling exhaust fume. The other day I went to move the car around the drive after a long drive, maybe half hour or so after turning off the engine and it was running ...

New Rear Window or Entire Roof
Need some advice. Finally traced the leak into the boot, turns out it was running in through the rear window zip in the bottom left corner. Filling up the well the roof folds into and dripping down into the boot. Managed to work out that if I carefully fold the edges of the roof back under the black...

Re: Speakers Suddenly Stopped Working
Update... So I've bypassed the amp I've tried 4 different head units I've even made up a lead to plug an aux input into each speaker channel on the main car audio harness and I get sound out of every speaker. Yet no head unit will give me sound out of any of the speakers when I plug them in. I reall...

Thanks for the input, I'm pretty certain the power relay is making contact as it should but I'm yet to get my meter on it. After doing some more digging whilst at work I've heard its possible to blow the components of the amp when you install an aftermarket head unit. This kinda makes sense as I kno...

Yeah, I'm pretty certain it must be the amp has failed. But I just wanted to double check before I modified the loom to bypass the amp in case there was something else I might have missed :D Hi, Sounds that you've worked it out by yourself. Though it's highly unlikely that all the speakers went out ...

I know this sounds really dim but I can still physically fold the mirror in by hand, I cant see any fracturing of the metal frame.
Is it safe to assume that I'm in the clear and can just raid the ebay mirror for its case and glass?

Afternoon all, been a bit of a numpty and smashed the passenger side wing mirror coming out the garage this morning. Right pain in the ass as I'm currently unemployed so funds are tight. I must admit I have been tempted to paint mine blue and then put some M-logo high heat vinyl stickers on like BMW now do on the M-sport cars.

The above might have sounded a bit obvious, sorry, but just wanted to be sure where we stood. I checked my car when starting it today (also ASC+T, but a pre-facelift 1.9 not a 2.0) and turned the ignition to position II and let all the lights go out. When I turn the key to the start position, the T...

It might be the fact that due to the battery being dead the alarm has "forgotten" you alarm bricks.
Take a look at this page and give the re-sync procedure a try, might just be the answer to your problems.

Re: Unique ASC+T issue
Couple of additional things to throw into the mix. First of all, I presume the ABS light does actually work - i.e. it illuminates either during self-test at startup, or during test using INPA? Secondly, I have read a report of an overactive DSC issue on here caused by a yaw sensor. Your profile say...

Re: Unique ASC+T issue
I will check the tyre dates tomorrow in daylight, I wouldn't imagine they would be anywhere near 6 years old as the previous owner only had the car for a few years. I have checked all of the modules with INPA and tested all of the valves and throttle controls within the ASC and ABS system, all seems...

Re: Unique ASC+T issue
What I meant as being a quirk was the flash of the ASC and low brake pad light when cranking the starter motor. I would be a bit worried if the car was designed to spin out. The tyres are summer ones look literally brand new, the previous owner only ever did around 500 miles a year in the thing. Lit...

Hi all, having a bit of an issue with my Z3. The car is a September 1999 2.0, the issue I'm having is sometimes when I start the car when I'm cranking it on the starter motor I get a brief flash of the ASC light and the brake pad warning light. I thought it was the ABS light but consulting the owner...

Like I say the coolant I topped up with is the same ethylene glycol base as the OEM BMW coolant.

So after looking at the bottle I've topped up with a 50/50 mix of water and orange/pink ethylene glycol, the bottle also states its recommended for aluminium engines. Think I've been a bit of a muppet here, noticed that the coolant level when cold wasn't quite where it should be. No signs of a leak or anything but could do with topping up. That's is the correct operation, one single flash when locking the car. If you get a double flash when unlocking it means the alarm has been triggered whilst you have been away from the car. You can of course program the car to give a visual signal when unlocking as well as an audible signal when lo...

Small update, my local dealer had a bonnet switch on the shelf.
£11.00 later and I no longer have 10 seconds of repetitive flashing from the LED indicator, however I still don't get the double flash when unlocking all the time.
Its only ever once in a blue moon...
Any ideas guys???
Many thanks Nat

So after finally getting around to having a play I have managed to get the valve to close by bypassing the solenoid.
No matter what I tried I could not get the solenoid to allow the valve to function, is it safe to assume the solenoid is broken? Any way I can double check with a multi meter?

The operation of the flap is not critical to the function of the car, but if you want to get it working, first check to see if the flap moves freely - it should be lightly spring loaded to open when no vacuum is applied. If the flap is moving freely, then either the pipework or the electrically ope...

The best place to look up part numbers is realoem.com, where you can put in your chassis number and see what parts apply to your car (bmminiparts do use the same parts system).
