Re: Wheels refurbished

What did they charge you?
I've got a sad-looking set of split y-spoke wheels here.
Thanks

Re: Windscreen Replacement

Hi, Just had my windscreen replaced by Autoglass as the previous one was original from 2001 and badly pitted. They quoted me around £360 originally, then when I booked the job that had risen to around £375. When I questioned that, they reduced it to around £330 but said if I paid for it immediately ...

Can anyone recommend a fitter around Bedfordshire, or are there any Zeds I could compare mine with?
Thanks

Yes, he thought that too but unfortunately it still does it with the ram disconnected.

Re: Engine won't start - and it's not the battery!

Yes, I vote for that too, can't go wrong with a hammer!
Or it could be the solenoid (I think these days they are built into the starter motor, I'm a bit out of touch :) ).
Does the interior light go dim when you turn the key?

Hood Alignment Problem

Hi, Car is a 2001 3.0 with the powered hood (roof) and has about 68K on the clock. The hood is in good condition and has always worked perfectly, dropping nicely into place on top of the windscreen, until I had some work done on the car by an independent company. They tried to manually open the powe...

Re: 3.0 oil consumption

Thanks for all the suggestions, I will probably switch to some thicker oil for a while and keep an eye on the consumption. I would also suggest try using cheaper/simpler oil as already mentioned and when warmed up do some lower rpm full throttle acceleration runs and lift off. It may take a long tim...

Re: 3.0 oil consumption

Hi Southernboy, Wow! What a comprehensive reply! Milage is about 68K but I suspect the oil has not been changed as regularly as it should have been, it was quite bad when I had it changed last year. I think the engine rebuild is probably out but is a very nice idea, I probably could do it myself but...

Re: 3.0 oil consumption

An old thread I know but I bought my 3.0 Z3 (2001) last year and have measured my oil consumption at about 1000 miles per litre, I have had the CVV and hoses replaced which didn't make much difference. In every other respect the engine seems fine, pulls like a train and sounds sweet. Should I be con...

Excellent, thanks Del. That's what I was looking for.
Thse set is priced at £336 which seems reasonable to me.

Re: 2001 Z3 3.0 - What Shocks?

Thanks for the reply, I am currently looking at a set of Bilstein B4s at a reasonable price.
Does anyone have any experience of these?
Thanks

2001 Z3 3.0 - What Shocks?

Hi, I bought this car late last year and the handling is a little unpredictable, I have ordered the PowerFlex bushes but I would like to replace the shocks as well. The Bilsteins are apparently a little too harsh (and expensive) so I was looking for the Sachs Super Touring shocks as mentioned on thi...

Re: New Member South Beds

So, back to my original question - Are there any regional club meetings for the Z3?
I see mention of events in the forum but not local meetings.

Thanks

Re: First fill up

Hi, Just bought a 2001 3.0 and love it! Seeing as this thread is fuel-related could someone advise me as to what I should use. Inside the fuel flap it says 91-98, I think "standard" unleaded is 95 and "premium" is 97. Is "standard" OK with these engines? I'm looking for...

What sort of MPG do people really get from a 3.0?

Wanted: Late Z3 2.8

Looking for a 2.8, preferably not black or silver with a nice interior, less than 70K. Can't see any in the usual places so as I'm a new member I'm asking on here. I was due to look at a 3.0 tomorrow but the seller reports that the Check Engine light has just come on and needs to get that sorted fir...
