Yes - you CAN place the jack under the diff, but it is pretty poor practice! Just because some nameless person has placed something on the internet does not mean that it is automatically the best option - it is just like believing all the garbage written about the Z3 which you can read in the media...

I think to disable the internal sensors, you simply press the lock button on your fob twice in quick succession. You should do this if you put your car on a ferry - fat chance at the moment!

Yes they are original. That thinning of the coil at the ends is the bit that aftermarket manufacturers can't copy. The thinner section is intended to give a softer initial response until the main spring comes into play.

Listening to it, could be alternator or water pump. Get a long screwdriver, or some other long metal implement and rest it on various components with the other end against your ear. You should be able to narrow down the source, but take care. We don't want any accidents.

I've found one made by NGK https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/ngk/13771140 That ought to be OK - what do you think? It is £38.85.

Is it likely that changing this sensor will make the car less easy to stall when reversing?

I sucked out all the filthy water from the fuel filler pocket with a Pasteur pipette (I was a lab scientist) and then cleaned out all the sludge. Lo and behold the drain hole became visible. Pool of water behind fuel flap

After all the rain we have had, there is a considerable pool of water behind the fuel flap on my 2002 Z3. I know this pocket is rubber lined so shouldn't rust, but surely water is supposed to drain away. How is that meant to be achieved?

Pingu may have a point. On my 2.2 I got "Fuel Trim" errors which turned out to be splits in the air trunking between the MAF sensor and the throttle body. The two bits of trunking were less than £30 and once fitted all was well.

Have you cleaned the sensors themselves. They need regular cleaning. Its hard the first time because they corrode in place but after that it becomes a very quick job. Thats usually the problem, rather than the ring. Do the lot then you dont need to worry about which ones to blame. That's good advic...

I have a C110+ and it can definitely pick up ABS codes, but it only gives a hexadecimal code with a brief description. Can you convert the hex to a P code or whatever is most useful? I got the seat out today and upended it on the bench. It was indeed stuck at the max height.
