Re: need new body panels

I will email bmwclassic. thanks for the tip!

Michael, I wish you were in the USA, as I think you are correct that shipping would be painful.

I will keep you all posted of the outcome.

thanks again

Re: need new body panels

Thanks Hank!

Most of the vendors have said "sorry, no longer available" but 1 or 2 in Germany said BMW planned production for more panels is scheduled for June. so it sounds like it might be happening.

need new body panels

It is time for my Z1 to get new panels. Almost every one is cracked, and they have become super brittle. I've emailed a few suppliers in the USA who told me "sorry...no longer produced." I am aware of the carbon fiber options, but wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions for a place for...

Need some panels and sourcing advice

The time has come for me to replace some of the cracked/aging panels on my otherwise amazing condition green Z1. While the car was sitting the garage, another panel split right down the middle, so I think it was a sign to get them fixed... Figure I should do both sides, even though the 2 front wings...

That is really sad. First my friend Potti and now this. Hopefully the 2 of them are having a beer somewhere and talking about Z1s.

I guess this explains whey Michael didn't respond to my request about leather.

Re: New Leather for seats

thanks for the great info! I emailed MIchael a few days ago, but I am thinking the Corona Virus might have them not working 100% Your seats are amazing. Mine don't look terrible now...i just don't love the shiny black leather. I'll post some pictures soon. I will most likely to black/alcantara since...

New Leather for seats

I am throwing around the idea of having my seats redone. They were redone by the previous owner 8-10 years ago, and they still look "ok," but not great. They were completely done is a rather shiny black leather, and the part near the lower back is starting to gap. I have 2 great local shop...

Re: Carbon Pin for horn

i have to take apart the shroud and a bunch of lower trim pieces to see. I haven't gotten to that yet because I was hoping someone would just say "pull it out towards the driver's seat and you don't have to remove the shroud."

Re: Carbon Pin for horn

I can't really see anyway for this pin to be removed from the front. there are no rivets, screws, brackets etc....so I was wondering if it just pulls out from the front or if I need to remove the shroud because there is some type of bracket from the back holding it. My looks like someone just filed ...

Re: Carbon Pin for horn

thanks! my pin is still spring loaded, but it looks very worn down. lots of little shavings inside the wheel hub too, so I think it just might be worn down too much. I am going to try sanding it a little though

Carbon Pin for horn

My horn stopped working and I tracked it down to a worn out carbon pin in the steering wheel. I "think" i ordered a new one, as most vendors list is as out of stock. It isn't like on other bmws where you have to drill out rivets and replace with screws, so I am not sure how this is removed...

Re: Odd window problem won't work from switch

Both sides work the same. When I push the outside button and the door/window starts to move, if I push the button again, the door/window will immediately change directions. The magic doors (as you probably know) are simply an actuator (motor) that pulls on the linkage rod. So there isn't really anyt...

Odd window problem won't work from switch

My doors and windows are working perfectly (and were just rebuilt) except for 1 feature that hasn't worked since I purchased the car: When the door is up, I cannot lower the window via the window switch. If I open the door with the handle, push button on dash (magic doors) or pull the door lever, th...

Z1 muffler for sale - hardly used

I have a very new looking Z1 muffler for sale. Car was always garage kept. No rust or dents anywhere. Not sure, but think it has less than 1000 miles on it. Shipping could be painful though. The muffler is in Pennsylvania, USA. I have a pending sale for $1,000. if it doesn't go through, I'll update ...

Yes. That workshop was at my house. He stayed with me for 4 nights and we had a wonderful time. My wife and I were planning a visit to his place next summer. Every time I push the remote on my Magic Doors I'll get sad.

Terrible, Terrible news. Passing of our friend Udo Pott

I just got the terrible news that our friend Udo Pott (Potti) passed away this past Sunday. Even though I've only had my Z1 for a short time, he was an amazing help to me and we became fast friends on his visit here to PA last week.

Terribly sad and a huge loss to the Z1 community.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Z1 exhaust they are doing for me mimics the wing shape of the OEM exhuast and is full width, as opposed to what they had done in the past.

thanks for the message.

Nouvalari Exhaust BMW Z1 Sport or "super sport"

I've read great things here about the Nouvalari Exhaust, so I'd like to get one. They have 2 models "sport" and "super sport." Super sport has a few less baffles, and the Nouvalari rep described the difference to me as "sport you can hear the sounds 1 1/2 blocks away" &...

A quick hello from a new Z1 owner in Pennsylvania, USA

Hello,
I am the proud new owner of a beautiful green Z1 that I just purchased here in Pennsylvania. I've already used this forum as an amazing resource in my search for a car.

so...a quick hello, and wondering if there are any other owner's nearby?

thanks!
