Well got it workingish!
Dont know what i did right but the interior handle now works (most of the time) and the outside button now closes the door which it never did.
Fixed just in time for the indicators to pack up! So now i need a wiring diagram see new post!!!!!

One of the bolts from my roof frame has sheared.
Does anyone know if these are available from anywhere? I have been trying on Ebay with no luck.
My friendly local BMW would supply me with one for about £5000 but this did include the rest of the frame!!!

Just noticed the padget rear discs i have fitted to the Z1 seem to be too small a diameter.
BMW quote 282mm dia for the pre 90 Z1's and padget and all the other aftermarket ones seem to be 258mm dia!

Anyone else know of a decent alternative to spending £156 from BMW?

I was right in that I was wrong! It was throwing its voice! The noise is coming from the engine but here's the bit that confuses me, it doesn't change pitch or sound along with engine or road speed! Any ideas what rotates at a constant rpm in the engine bay that could make the sound?

Yes the local garage has just changed them. I was having handling problems, the front was a bit vague. It doesn't seemed to have cured the problem though!

BMW have just told me my front butterfly bushes are worn!
I have never heard of any bushes refered to like that.
