Me again.. I think this is the last thing (apart from a BMW Car magazine featuring my car) This is a very smart BMW Z1 pin badge I've put on eBay today. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111028504082?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1586.l2649 http://i.ebayimg.com/t/BMW-Z1-pin-badge-limited-edit...

Ur Green Z1 spotted at Zolder!
I took my GTM Libra to the VAB Autohappening at Zolder last weekend. At the close of play on Sunday, just as I was leaving the paddock, there was a green Z1 parked up by the road. As I was trying to do a 360 to get back and say 'hi' you drove off! Hi anyway if you read this forum, sorry to have miss...

Interesting. I've got a spiral bound BMW Z1 internal publication in English. It's called Product Concept BMW VM-3 It looks like an internal sales training product. 87 pages about the original design concept, including comparisons with competition. Competition the Z1 is compared against: Porsche 944,...

Now I have to admit....it would be an 'interesting' project. If it was me, I'd really want to use the BMW V8 - better bhp/kilo and just a wonderful lump! Fitting a roll cage would stiifen the old girl up a hell of a lot. And there's a good deal of ready to bolt on goodies in the brake department, on...

They look like an SUV tread, also, the even block size may be noisier than a mixed size block pattern. Their treadwear number is 300, which is bloody hard compared with a grippy tyre like the Advan (Yokohama) AD07 which is 180. The trackday favourite AO48 has a treadwear number of 60! But it does gr...

If you just change the shockers you can not change the ride height. Even a fairly small amount of pressure on the shocker will make it collapse, albeit slowly. The shock absorbers can not support any weight, therefore the ride height will not be changed whatever stiffness you fit as a damper. (unles...

Benslick's pictures, originality and stuff.
Wonderful pictures, it looks like it was a really great trip. My wife Carol, who isn't all that interested in cars took one look at the mountain scene and asked why I didn't go; and with all those cars, why didn't they get them into a big 'Z' shape and take a photo? The modified cars are interesting...

THE GREEN LEATHER INTERIOR COULD DO WITH CONDITIONING Yep, he's right there. I don't know who did this conversion. I've seen two others done by different garages, and in my mind they scored 9/10 and 7/10. Now this one scores 1/10. I've never thought it a good idea in the first place. I really, real...

Just so it's clear. The first pic on my site of the exhaust shows the original box, with the original outlet on the left side, so the view is of the top of the box. You can see that the original box has not got a concave top section. It is also possible to see the seam across the whole of the leadin...

I note that mine appears to be fitted with E36 M3 items. Hmm I presume you did that in your conversion! The E36 has 5 stud hubs, but the Z1 has 4 stud. For clarification: The rear disks (rotors) on the Z1 made for most of production are Z1 only items, they are not E36 items. The fronts are E30. NOT...

The rears are special. Z1 only (except I think the very late cars might have used something different) The rears have the disk (rotor) dimension of the E30, but the handbrake drum is E36 sized. Still available from factory, but they only make them in batches, so sometimes there's a delay of a couple...

Condition, condition, condition. UK car is not worth more money - why should it be? If it isn't original, it MUST be carefully modded. Avoid bodywork modifications, wild colours and cheapo wheels. Many of the German owners are almost religious in their devotion to originality, but some changes are f...

You will have to bake them in an oven to unseal the glue. Here is a reference for you to follow. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67893&highlight=oven Before you do that - check to see if the Z1 headlight is anything like the Z3 lights. I suspect that the oven job isn't a good ...

Re tyres. I used Yoko 539s and was very pleased. One of the factors that surprised me was the effect of tyre noise. Most tyres have the same size blocks around the treads - this can lead to a whine caused by the reasonance of the blocks. The 539s have different size blocks - if you look round the ty...

There weren't any washers behind the nut heads. It didn't fall off or fail in the time I had the car.

I'm guessing but.. When the door is fully shut, the lock bar rotates and the door then hangs on it, and the electrics are disconnected. If the door doesn't go up far enough, then the lock shft may not rotate enough, and the door actually slips off the latch, effectively then starting the opening seq...
