Re: Odometer EEP_1 fixed but with issues
I'm very interested in how this turns out as I'm in the process of having a replacement engine fitted. It has done a guaranteed 89144km (about 60k miles), but the odometer currently indicates the soon-to-be old engine's mileage of about 126k miles. I highly suspect I'll get the dreaded dot on the da...

Re: PM advice - water flange
True, but it also seems that the value drops considerably when the engine is removed!
I wish the garage was closer to home, so I could watch and learn while the engines gets swapped. Still, hopefully the weather will still be nice by the time I get to drive RedZed again.

My Zed had to be taken to the garage a few weeks ago for suspected blown head gasket. It too is a 1.9, 2002. Had a call from the mechanic saying that the top half of a stretch bolt was swimming in oil under the rocker cover, and that the water pump would only come out with bits of the block. I am no...

Re: Wanted: 1.9 118HP m43 engine
Yes, Barry, Andy was my first port of call. Regretfully, the 1.9 he had was m44 140HP, not quite a straight swap with my m43, and therefore costly to adapt to my setup. You never know, somebody on here might have an m43 kicking around. At least it's worth a shot...

Wanted: 1.9 118HP m43 engine
HI all, Following a head gasket failure / seized-up water pump / stretch bolt failure, I'm in need of a replacement engine for my 2002 1.9 m43 unit. Re: Rear window replacement near to Stockport, Cheshire?
Got mine from Germany for about 70 quid, I think. Taking the old window out is a bit daunting, but it illustrates how the new one goes in. My second go would have been spot-on, if not for the fact that I zipped the window in the wrong way (clockwise instead of anti clockwise, or the other way round)...

Re: Rear window replacement near to Stockport, Cheshire?
It is fairly straightforward a job. Just a bit fiddly, with a fair bit of trial and error. Can therefore be time-consuming, but then again, how long would it have to be to be worth giving away 400 quid? It's easier to have someone help you, but it can be a one-man job. A few posts on different forum...

Thanks, Barry, that's what I thought. When changing the oil on my Zed for the first time, I did find on the net that oil capacity for my engine was 5 liters. Well, I did make it home without any problem, needle never left 12 o'clock position. Yes, calipers got back in ok, pins with no corrosion, and greased up. However, no discernable play, squeak, or noise in/from bearing, though it seems the likely culprit...It's gonna be one of those 'cheap part, expensive labour' jobs, isn't it?

Thanks, John, Bertie, I imagine that the heat caused the disc to move in such a way that the handbrake shoes lose their grip on it, explaining why the 'loose' wheel changed sides when I swapped the discs over.
