I would have thought that the 7 Series wheels would not only have an unsuitable offset, but also have a different wheel bolt pitch and spigot diameter - like the 5 Series wheels, which require adaptors to fit a Z3.

Even in 2003 21 inch whels were very few and far between, and were not an optional extra on the Z3. I do not think the advertiser means factory-fitted options, but wheels an owner has fitted in the quest to be at the forefront of fashion! A pressure bleeder is necessary for bleeding dual-circuit brakes - it forces brake fluid into the systems by air pressure. Unless you have a problem you do not need a code reader - it is not a necessary part of maintenance routines. I have never needed one in fifteen years of ownership and 130,000 miles. Spend your money on tools instead.

You can wiggle the lights around as much as you like, but nothing will change them from being made for the UK LH dipping specification, unless you can find some RH dip lenses. Otherwise it means new headlamps, but the various projector lights sold on EBAY are a lot cheaper than BMW originals - mine ...

If you had read most of this thread you would have found that it depends on whether you have a single or double-VANOS engine - which you do not specify.
Single VANOS = M50 manifold with perhaps S52 cams. Double VANOS = M54 (3 litre) manifold with perhaps M54 cams.

Why don't you just modify your existing lever, as I did? It is cheap and easy to do, and gives a sensible height to the gear lever.

At least the standard equipement on a 2.8 was a lot better than a Porche Boxster of the period, where leater trim, centre console, 17 inch wheels, traction control, trip computer etc were all extras - and at higher prices too! For an equivalent level of fit - leather trim, air con and metallic paint...

With the usual options - air con, 17 inch wheels, wind blocker, passenger airbag, and radio, the OTR price of my October 1998 twin-VANOS car was just over £32,000.

It could also be due to glazed brake pads, which can easily be cured by giving the brakes some serious work to do, with suitable intervals for cooling. This is often due to using a high speed pad material but driving slowly around town or cruising on a motorway with light braking.

The pitures of the mother board donot show any thing which looks like a calibration pot, but how about the speedometer itself? This seems to plug intothe mother board, and probably carries the digital to analogue converter which drives the instrument itself, and may be worth a good looking at.

Have you looked at the speedometer printed circuit board? I would expect to see some form of calibration adjuster on it, as the sensor pulses at a rate of 4712hz per km - not a usual rate for a divider circuit.

Try looking at the compressor - does it rotate? Perhaps the clutch is slipping and not transmitting the drive from the pulley. Is the tensioner pulley bearing worn out, which would leave the belt slack, and failing to drive correctly? Are the steel pipes rusted badly, and perhaps leaking? 'Replaced ...

OK - I now see what the adjuster is - I did not realise it was in two pieces! It is necessary to hold one piece while turning the other, but the more it is extended the less rigid it will be against the body. Frakly, I think this design looks pretty awful, as the top of the spring changes its angle ...

What make are your springs and dampers, and where did you buy them, and did the kit not have any form of instructions? Quite apart from losing some of the roll-over protection, this will remove the neat mesh wind blocker, which is something I would miss badly. Maybe it is a sign that the OP enjoys 'wind in the hair' or feels roll-over bars are 'not cool?'

If your car has a Torsen LSD the old test of turning a wheel does not tell you anything - get a printout of your car's spcification frm any dealer - it's free in return for the last seven digits of the VIN code, such as LE 71381.

For road use a pair of Kent 312R cams and a good cylinder head job will put out about 175/180 bhp, with surprising economy too. We had a 1.8 Corrado with such an engine, and it was a real flier.

It looks good, but all it can do is brace the body between the upper damper mounts, which have no influence rear wheel alignment or handling. I cannot even think that stiffening this area will affect body rigidity between the rear cross member mounting studs. Sorry, but I'm not convinced - I'll keep...

Don't forget that DSC is a different system from a basic traction control system - it also looks for unwanted lateral accelleration, such as is caused by a slippery road. With a low tyre pressure it willl react to that tyre's loss of grip, and see a lateral motion which does not marry up to the road...

The OEM mesh wind blocker is very good, and gives a large reduction in buffeting. Being mesh, it allows a proportion of air to pass throughit, so 'filling' the cockpit area and increasing tis effect. It could also be poor connections at the battery terminals and / or the earth strap's connection tothe body. Do all the lights dim when this problem occurs, or does the oil pressure light go out ? The rubber stop fits on the flap, not the wing! They always come loose and fall off, so I glued mine in with Evo-Stick, and it has been fine for about 12 years since then.
