It's not for ice or frost, but to generally keep rain off the roof when it's parked on my drive. My Z is not my main vehicle and is not driven daily so mould and bird droppings are a problem. A 'top-cap' would suit nicely.

Well, chaps (and chapesses) this seems to have opended up an area of discussion hitherto largely untapped. I emailed BMW customer services and they told me that I have, but not what type. The 2.2 Sport has one as standard I gather. Otherwise see here:

I also have a Westfield with, as it happens, a standard 'open' diff but the tester, a savvy fellow who races a Triumph Spitfire, always asks if it has an lsd because they must not be roller tested. My Z definitely has an LSD fitted - BMW confirm this - but I have had little luck finding out what type. My 2002 2.2 Z3 Sport has a fly-by-wire throttle and it behaves like my son's Z4M Coupe with the 'Sport' option deselected. That is there's a delay in its reactions which makes smooth driving difficult until you learn its quirks. On the Z4M with 'Sport' on, this delay is eliminated which suggests it'...
