These things often end up stained - mine certainly is. Has anyone tried to paint these to refurb them? What sort of preparation (does it need to be sanded) and paint (type and finish - matt?) are best?

Looking for a replacement for a badly peeling one. So must be handsome enough not to need paint but will consider one with small marks.

Re: Busted window regulator mounting points
Door replaced and a salutary tail. I saw the window of the replacement door working before saying yes. It was a little sluggish but I thought a strip, clean and lube would cure this. I wasn't able to examine the door and mechanism for fractures as the door panel was on. So I said yes. I popped back ...

Re: Busted window regulator mounting points
Yes, the barrel bolt shearing off is one of the mounting points gone on mine. If it was just that point I think I would be tempted to have it welded too (though it must be fiddly to get it back and in exactly the right position). However the metal has fractured near the two forward mounting points. ...

Busted window regulator mounting points
I stripped the driver's door down today hoping the sticking window problem would be cured by a quick clean and lube. However the regulator was fractured on one mounting point and bent on another. The cause of the ABS light illuminating on my car was a duff electronics black box that sits on the ABS pump. The soldered joints inside deteriorate over time. I paid £45 for the complete pump/black box and it takes about 5 mins to fit if it's just the black box. You will then need to reset the erro...

With it fitted and the MOT passed the worst thing that's going to happen is it doesn't have a long life span.
As I won't be doing more than 2000 miles a year and in reality a lot loss I'm not going to worry. If I get 3 years out of it that will be success for £100 fitted.
