Light switch - panel illumination
I've just replaced the 1.2w bulb in the small panel under the light pull switch. Is it supposed to be on all the time when the key is turned to pos II? Instead of just when you pull the the light switch on. This has bugged me for the 10 years of ownership and it's the first time I've made the effort...

Re: Alarm problems - tilt sensor
Ah good point I didn't think to check that. Mind you the alarm hasn't gone off but I will check. I pierced that little rubber bung and put a small piece of pipe through it with a pin to hold it in place so now the highest any water can go is about 5mm. Next heavy rainfall I'll check it again. Anyone using waterless coolant?
My full service is coming up and i'm considering a coolant flush and putting this in. Is there a good or bad side to this? Mines a 1.9 M43 engine.

Update on this. Ordered one from flebay, one from an e46 3 series for £4.45. Looked the same, felt the same, it's the same! Plugged it in, no problems so far and i figured out why the previous waterlogged one was triggering the alarm after drying out. Pin 3 had rusted and disintegrated. Problem solv...

Just out of interest as i've never sat in another zed, how hard are the seats supposed to be?
Ours has the black standard leather electric seats with the blue piping and they are rock hard. Are they typical or can they be made softer/spongier/comfier?

Have to agree. Just paid £10 for an interior light bulb from Coopers, you know the heater panel one. Mind you i did see the same bloody part on Autobulbsdirect for £3.50 after the event. I also paid £10 for a replacement aerial rubber grommet! Having said that though i paid £55 for a replacement aft...

Yes. Had it all apart again yesterday. I seem to remember that when the battery is disconnected you can turn the key in the lock and lock the car. That doesn't happen now, I can unlock but not lock. Mechanical issue???

Update to this. I'm 99% certain it's the drivers door lock micro switch that's jiggered. I've had the bloody door lock out 3 times now and I'm not doing it again. The doors all lock as they should using the key remote, if that fails the boot lock activates it all too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapat...

Replaced the aerial body grommet today. Small steps first then of the rain comes in I'll check the third brake light.
Also created a small drain in the rubber grommet under the tilt sensor.

Thanks. I have a new grommet on order. Good plan. There was a lot of water in the well, at least a litre. The well on the right side had a bit of water in it so did the battery tray but not as much as the near side which makes me look straight to the aerial mount. I've recently had the rear bumper replaced and I noticed condensation in t...

I'm thinking more the perished rubber bung at the base of the aerial. I've ordered one of those too, £10. Having said that, the right side battery well had water in it too so who knows. You're right of course. The value of ownership always exceeds the value of resale in the used car market for us zed owners. Sign of the times I know and I never want to part with ours but still. A lot of car for piss poor money.
