Is the interior light that Southernboy showed a direct replacement in the hole or does the hole have to be enlarged for it to fit? If a direct fit it seems a very quick and useful mod.

You can still buy BMW front mudflaps in a kit with the fitting clips (at least you could a couple of months ago) Part number is 82 16 9 405 191. They will probably have to be special order and are about £30. When you fit them don't break any of the clips because they are no longer available on their...

On our facelift car, if I use a key without an immobilizer chip in it (bought a s/h key off ebay and put its remote locking internals in a new case with a new cut blade), I can open the car and can use the key in the ignition to turn on all the dashboard lights but the engine will NOT turn over. The secondary air pump works for about 30 seconds after start up to pump air into the exhaust to lean out the exhaust gases for emissions. If you have to go down the buy-new route, don't buy the cheap non branded ones you can find on ebay. I tried one a couple of years ago and it really didn't work well so I went to a genuine Siemens part and had no problems. It's worth doing a search on-line for air mass meter specialists as there are...

On a non-M car, the small rubber rings are (were) not included with a BMW oil filter. Usually, I have to order them in as my dealer doesn't keep them in stock (interesting, as they should be changed at the same time as the filter - what do they do when they service a car?).

It looks as though they are still available at Coopers BMW parts online (Part No 54 21 9 408 881) although £9.38 is a bit steep for 2 bits of plastic (at the end of 2009 they were only £4.87 +VAT). Are you sure that your dealer looked up the right part number?
