Just to add, I have seen consoles where people have cut the switch holes out in the non M top part to make the additional dial holes and then filled in the gaps at the corners of the switches but it wasnt the neatest job to be fair. I must say I can never see me selling my M roadster as it gives me so much pleasure and running costs for its performance are reasonable and having added up what I have spent and even including the recon vanos( if needed) its increase in value over what I paid for it has more than covered my spend ...

As per the post I am after a rear demist button for the optional hard top. I know they changed during the facelift and I am looking for both switches - a prefacelift one for me & a facelift one for a mate.

1st thing is check the fuse as people have said
2nd thing is the lighter unit itself might be knackered... it does come out from behind but I cant remember how.

Check the fuse first then we will tell you how to remove the unit

I have fitted a few hardtops in my time - I assume you mean the catch to tighten the hardtop to the car has broke?

i think its looking great and the paint/polish looks v good. personally I think if you want stone guards go carbon. I have some on mine but in all honesty I dont think they are needed

I would go for a new cable. Its not a lot of money, easy to replace, and it makes such a difference in the driving. Where abouts are you talking about on the steering wheel? Very fine sandpaper would get rid of marks but might be worth investing in a retrim from royal steering wheels?

That is very expensive - I wouldnt go anywhere near them. Peel back the carpet under the back window. If the water is coming in from there you can usually see the run marks on the metal... that said if it is coming in from there you usually get puddles and wet in the boot too. fitted and supplied i believe.... i bought the car and had an invoice for the roof, only just bought the car but it was done about 2 years ago, i did speak to them about 2 weeks ago, they are still in business. I was enquiring about waterproofing the roof with waterproofer and they recommended Fabs...

Thanks for the reply Robert, car is a facelift late 1999 model (2 litre). The initial scan done (can no longer get hold of the chap) showed no signals from rear wheel sensors (now replaced with aftermarket ones) and ABS module showed defective. Sorry to hear about the poor seller experience - thats not good. hopefully someone on the continent will be able to come forward and offer one. The issue in the UK is that there were less than 1000 M models produced, and more than 500 are still on the road so the number of available parts in the UK ...
