July 20-22 2012 - Z Fest

Post by Phil »

Just an idea at the moment but a few years ago a group of us went to Switzerland to a Z Fest where we were part of nearly 400 Zs lined up on an airfield. There were all sorts of hospitality elements present as well.

So the thought is we do a UK Z Fest possibly using Gaydon.
The idea is to get 500 Zs together.

A tall order indeed but there will be support from some notable other parties which I better not mention yet. An initial discussion has already taken place so a bit of a pipedream maybe but watch this space.

Give it an Olympic theme and make the most of it!
You could even get BMW UK to help sponsor it...

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

Ok....looks like Phil is having 'one of his turns...'
Marise, time to lock him up in the soundproof room again!

As one who was lucky enough to attend that Swiss meet, (see 'April' in this year's calendar), it was an incredible achievement and a great experience. I only went once, but for few years, it became an annual event.

Phil, if you manage to pull off something similar in the UK, I'll buy you a bottle of wine.

Jay suceeded in gathering approx 40 Zeds at Gaydon in April 2006, but that only involved UK based cars from this forum alone.

When it happens Phil, RED and myself will of course, be there.

Hope it doesn't rain....

Cheers!
Alfie.

Sounds good.
Were there to be any mini cruises on the day then we might need to split into two groups of 200.
400 all at once might be too many :-)

Convoy to the meet with the East Anglian crew is a great idea Mike (and we'll get in training to make the start-time of the cruise this time round!). :)

For those of you who are members of the BMWCC you will have seen a reference to this event in the editorial/news section of the magazine. I am delighted to say that the car club are going to be heavily involved with this and have a lot of clout with regard to sponsorship, promotion etc..
So keep on expressing your interest and we'll see how things progress.
